Tigers chase Pizarro

Hull City manager Phil Brown has revealed the club have contacted Chelsea regarding a move for striker Claudio Pizarro.

Pizarro, 29, has been linked with a transfer away from the Blues this summer after a frustrating debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, with Argentine giants River Plate reportedly interested in his services.

However, the forward's agent has insisted he is keen to remain in Europe, and Stoke City have emerged as potential suitors with rumours claiming they are lining up a season-long loan for his services.

But with the Tigers hopeful of bolstering their attacking options ahead of the new Premier League term, Brown has confirmed the club are interested in holding talks with Pizarro.

"We've made contact with Chelsea with regards to Claudio," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.

"It's a very expensive option, but again, it would be one if we got the option to speak to the lad or the opportunity to speak to the lad, then who knows?

"But as far as we are concerned we have made contact with Chelsea and that's where it lies at the moment."

I'm not too sure. He needed a season to settle in, like almost all players do. I think keeping him to January wouldn't be a bad option, especially as Drogba is injured at the moment and Sala is at the Olympics. He won't play alot, but we could flog him in January for a cut price I guess.

Panathinaikos are chasing Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro.

Pizarro is currently playing on-loan at Werder Bremen, which are keen to sign him permanently.

However, former Chelsea coach Henk ten Cate hopes to bring the striker to Greece in the summer.
