Cech Rubbishes Jose Reunion

Recommended Posts

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has rubbished reports he could be about to join Real Madrid.

Cechspacer.gif has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu where he would be reunited with former Bluesspacer.gif boss Jose Mourinho.spacer.gif

Mourinho has already completed a swoop from his former club by bringing Ricardo Carvalho to Spain for £6.7 million and it is rumoured the ex-Inter Milanspacer.gif coach is trying to persuade Chelsea'sspacer.gif No.1 to follow suit.

But Cech has denied he has been in contact with the Portuguese boss and has questioned whether Real would want to replace long-serving shot-stopper Iker Casillas between the nets.

The 28-year-old told Pravo: "There are more of us here who were with Chelsea while Mourinho was in charge. So the media could speculate about many players. You should never say never, but we have not spoken with Jose.

"If you take a look at Real's squad, you see that the goalkeeper's position is the only place where they have not had any reason to change anything."

Chelsea have had a relatively quiet transfer window with Yossi Benayounspacer.gif and Ramires being Carlo Ancelotti's only major signings.

Several big names, including Joe Cole, Michael Ballack and Deco, have left the club but Cech reckons more new faces could arrive before the transfer window closes.

"It is normal that in such a big club like Chelsea someone comes in and someone leaves," argued the former Rennesspacer.gif keeper. "There may be some more activity yet because the transfer window is still open. Still someone might arrive."

Cech also thinks the Blues can cope without Carvalho this season, adding: "We have Alex back and he might be playing as centre-back.

"The coach will surely cope with the situation."

Thank fuck, especially with or laughing stock of back up keepers.

Don't ever remember the link being made in the first place lol.

There were a couple of rumors earlier this summer about Madrid wanting to buy him but even if they did, then it would be either Cech or Casillas on the bench, and it's quite obvious that they're both well too good to be a backup keeper.

Yeah, Cech seems like the sort of player who is very happy and very settled at Chelsea. I can see him staying until probably the last year of his career because I think I remember him saying he wanted to retire with Sparta Praha.
