Wayne Rooney hair transplant picture posted on his Twitter feed

Wayne Rooney today showed off the early results of his hair transplant by posting a picture on his Twitter feed.

The 25-year-old had treatment on his prematurely balding head last week at a Harley Street clinic - at an estimated cost of £12,000.

He commented: "Hi all there's my head. It will take a few months to grow. Still a bit bloody too. But that's all normal."

The England striker had taken stick off Manchester United team mate Michael Owen over his Twitter profile pic, and Cristiano Ronaldo nicknamed him Bobby Charlton.

And Red Devils colleague Rio Ferdinand, who tweets as RioFerdy5, was quick to comment on the new look.

He joked: "@WayneRooney looks like you got a shape up, looks decent. I was expecting a full head a hair + extensions etc!?

"Can't wait to see you in the mirror after training styling your locks with loads a products ala ronaldo!"

And Wayne's wife Coleen also had a joke on Twitter. Sheree Murphy, married to Australian international Harry Kewell, commented: "@ColeenRoo Can't believe how young Wayne looks with he's new hair! It looks great! Have a lovely holiday x" to which Coleen replied: "Haha! He will be asking @gagsy8 to style it soon!! Thanks you too x"

The eight-hour follicular unit extraction transplant procedure was performed under local anaesthetic at the Queen Anne Street Medical Centre, home to the Harley Street Hair Clinic.

Individual hairs are removed from a donor patch, one at a time, using a punch-like precise micro-surgical tool, leaving pinprick-size wounds which heal quickly.

The hairs are then “planted” into tiny incisions. The procedure is available at only a handful of clinics across Europe and is thought to have cost Rooney

He is today flying to Barbados with wife Coleen, 25, and 19-month-old son Kai for a summer holiday.

That's quite ugly if you ask me. If he doesn't know where to spend his money, he should spend it in some charities...

Exactly!

What a horrible waste of money. No doubt he's spent a few thousand on that.. Certainly could've been used for a much worthy cause. Disgraceful behaviour, not that his behaviour surprises me anymore..

Oh come on. It's his money, he spent it on himself.

What kind of message is it sending out.. If you think you don't look good, get cosmetic surgery.

Why should he give a flying feck about what kind of message it's sending out? You know better than me how retarded this "footballers=role models" is.
