''I was excited when i read it and im verry happy he is already training with the first team. And more importantly that he can cope with the level.Do you guys think he will have a big chance of getting playtime in the first team next season ? DavidEU 2,023
Chelsea TV said that he had trained before with the first team when he was around 15, which shows just how talented the guy is.

NattyBlue 44
Now he's training with them once a week I believe and was given the number 51 for the first team right?
EskWeston 696
Josh has been training with the first team for a while now, it is possible he may be given a chance with the first team next season but i would think it is not very likely. The second leg of the final has certainly done massive things for his reputation among Chelsea fans and outside too. His performances have not been always been great this season but he has certainly improved massively through the season.Incredible talent, if we can nurture him right he can be seriously good. NattyBlue 44
Yeah, we just need to develop him physically now I think

BlueLion. 21,491
He was brilliant the other night in the cup final, certainly has the ability and the confidence to succeed at this level.

Fizia_92 0
Looks like the kind of midfielder we need. Haven't had a player playing CM with a bit of flair in a while. Would fit nicely along side Mikel and Essien in a few years
EskWeston 696
Thought i was bring this thread back to life. Josh is training at the moment every day with the first team and he will continue throughout the season to train with the first team and with the reserves when required. Neil Bath has also said that it is Josh's aim to make some first team appearances this season and he fully expects him to that this season. It is an exciting prospect, Josh is an amazing talent, if we can bring him through and see how he copes with first team football we could see him playing more regular than anyone thought. Even a role on the subs bench will be good, increasing his chance!
Blueboy 14
I'm getting all excited of the idea to see him play next season! Although we shouldn't hype him too much. Look at Kakuta, also an amazing talent, but had a pretty poor reserve season last year (despite making his debut in the first team and looking very confident). With the departure of J. Cole and the upcoming departure of Deco, we dont have a real attacking midfielder (number 10) in the squad. Benayoun is probably here for max three years and hopefully McEachran is ready to become our new number 10. (Not Kakuta as i'd rather see a player with his pace, dribbling skills and great shot on the left or right wing. Would love to see him in the Arjen Robben role, cutting in from the right)Thats how i see it anyway. Josh really has fenomenal potential and it would be dream come true seeing a Chelsea youth player growing out be one the best in game (at Chelsea of course). Seeing him in the first team already next season would be great, lets hope for the best . Edited July 9, 2010 by Blue_Soldier
DavidEU 2,023
Start at Crystal Palace, hopefully. Not a huge selection of midfielders available for it, so he's got a great chance.
Kostas 1,468
Can't see him making a first team debut this year. He's what 17?18? He's way to young to be able to cope with this and there are older reserve players that will have to get appearances. Can't see this happening unless he's the new Messi or something

Age doesn't always mean much, he has had sessions with the first team since he was 15. The lad is extremely talented, reminds me of Kaka in the way he plays. For anyone who has not seen anything of him, check out this vid and it gives an idea of what he is capable of:
jmarlow 458
he reminds me alot of jack wilshere he may get some minutes in palace game, cant wait to see him against a decent championship side, so we can see if he looks out of his depth or like jack wilshere in last years emirates cup he could well catch everyone's eye.
