Hes refused to play tonight for Stoke to avoid being cup tied and annoyed Pulis in the process. Looks set for a move but its not just us intrested.

interesting development...maybe in some way him not wanting to be cup tied in the League Cup points to us being his desired destination..due to the fact that barring injuries is only the League Cup and some F.A Cup games (depending on the strength of the opposition) that he would play in....

where as if it was to a team where he would more likely to be a regular starter, missing some LC games would be less of an issue to him.

could be that none of that is the actual case tho...just thinking outside of the box really..but should be an interesting few days before the window shuts anyway....i can`t say i`ve seen much of the lad in actual games, but it seems like many people in football rate him highly so there must be something about him.

Is it me, or does this guy seem to be a disruptive character, he wanted to leave Portsmouth in January because he would be on the bench as soon as David James was fit again. Then he joins Stoke and because he wants first team football but complains again 6 months later because once again he complains about being a bench warmer. Yet strangely the club that has seem to captured his heart when an offer was made was Chelsea, who undoubtedly will put him on the bench anyway because of Petr Cech.

Thats what its all about, the money. He complains that he'll leave if he's not a regular for Stoke, but is fine with being a bench warmer for Chelsea because he'll earn more money. Begovic would count as homegrown would he not? because he was at pompey from an early age? So just give Stoke, Turnbull ha :)

But think about it; would you prefer to be sitting on the bench for Portsmouth or Stoke, or sitting on Chelsea's bench earning about £40,000 a week?

not only that but he could be one injury away from playing in games like the European Cup final etc...at Stoke he will not.

Seriously wtf is wrong with these players? Why are they going on strikes? It's not like they're made to work on minimal wages for 14 hours a day in dingy workshops with no fire escapes. They are such an indulged lot, these guys. They get the best of lifestyles, exorbitant wages, lucrative sponsorships et al. And what do they have to do in return? Turn up once a week and give their all for 90 mins in front of people who earn a fraction of what they do, yet spend some of it to watch them play. It's a disgrace. I'm not sure I would want this guy on my team if I were the manager. Today he is on strike because Chelsea want him, tomorrow he could strike while playing for us if say Real or Barca came for him. Attitude matters as much as ability and I wish this was recognised.

calm down !!! you can't force a player to stay with the club if he wants to leave . i think he has the rights to show his discontent and his desire to leave . i am sure it's not like he suddenly said i am not gonna play for you anymore , he must have spoken to the manager and explained his desire to leave and that was met by refusal .

now he has a great chance infront of him to earn a lot more money and to go to the EPL champions , by other means live a much much better life . so i can see what he is doing .

There's showing you want to leave (handing in a written request for transfer), and then being an utter twat (striking). These players are paid tens of thousands and are role-models for people of all ages, of all nationalities across the world. And they're a fucking disgrace as far as I'm concerned, if I was their club manager I'd refuse to pay their wages and let them rot in the reserves for the rest of the season.
