Pizy 19,177 Posted yesterday at 03:49 Share Posted yesterday at 03:49 You can tell that he is incredibly talented with the ball at his feet for a CB. Some of that great ball carrying was on display yesterday. But as you would expect for a teenager his positional discipline and reading of the game is still super raw. I agree with others that I’d 100% prefer to see him getting these minutes than Tosin or Badiashile but I think Josh would benefit massively from a season’s loan at a really solid midtable PL team. He could absolutely follow the Colwill path and come back here a top class CB. He’s not really going to get the consistency and reps if he’s in and out of the team constantly here. Something to consider in the summer. Fernando

I also think Josh would benefit from having a Cahill/JT type CB next to him, that bit of experience would be crucial for a young CB learning his trade. He signed a long new deal recently I believe.

Tell me that Gusto wasn't supposed to track the no.19 player who eventually scored. IMO., he lost his man and could have done better. He could've gone for the ball or gone for the man. He did neither and just stood there watching the action like our defenders usually do. I think you’re really really nitpicking there. As I said, if he doesn’t try get involved there its a tap in for the other player & “why hasn’t he tried to do anything” as opposed to “why is he not marking the player”….. He ends up on the deck effectively so not sure what else you want him to do in that split second? Maybe be stronger & stay up? But even then, does it still make a huge difference in how the goal plays out? Probably not. Poor goal yes but you’re making a really big point about something that it should never ever get to if dealt with well at the other 3 or 4 opportunities initially (Trev, Josh x2, Caicedo). Caicedo’s & Santos’ role in it gets worse & worse every time I see it, their player runs off Santos earlier in the move who’s recovery is poor after Trev makes a cunt of it, then Josh gets rolled, then Caicedo’s not strong enough in the tackle & Josh makes a cunt of it afterwards. Then Sanchez does what he can. Then Gusto. But in terms of mistakes Gusto’s hardly that bad & already in the middle of a shitshow. Not sure any other fullback/defender would’ve done differently there…
