Scolari happy as Stoch rises

Recommended Posts

Luiz Felipe Scolari says the emergence of Miroslav Stoch has paved the way for more youngsters to establish themselves in the Chelsea first-team.

The 19-year-old Slovakian made his Chelsea debut as a late substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in November, but did not feature again until Saturday’s game against Stoke.

Stoch came on in the 82nd minute at the weekend as Chelsea trailed 1-0, but they managed to claim an equaliser before the youngster’s cross led to Frank Lampard’s injury-time winner.

And Scolari believes having that kind of impact will help the club’s young players to become an important part of the senior side.

“That was fantastic,” he told the club’s official website.

“Miroslav did very well twice and crossed, we scored and it was good for us.

“It was good for the young players because the young players need an opportunity, but whoever gets the opportunity needs to prove themselves – not only for me, but for the people and the older players.

“Next week maybe the players will believe more in the younger players. There are good rewards and I will always give the young players an opportunity.”

He should've given Sinclair a run out with Malouda playing shite and being injured, but he never did.

Sinclair is on loan at Birmingham.

I've wanted to see Stoch play in the first team since seeing him in the reserves for the first time and I'm so glad he's finally getting a chance. Would like to see Kakuta too.

I'm talking about over the season. Sinclair was available over the Christmas period when Malouda was injured but he didn't get a look in!
