No fucking way should we be even entertaining selling Nkunku if we don't get Tel coming the other way

I'd say we shouldn't be selling him with a replacement secured. It doesn't necessarily have to be Tel, but we can't be leaving ourselves with even fewer options than we already have.

Here are five left-footed centre-backs I think we will hear plenty of transfer rumours about in 2025:

🇪🇸 Mika Marmól (2001, Las Palmas)

🇧🇷 Otávio (2002, FC Porto)

🇬🇷 Konstantinos Koulierakis (2003, VfL Wolfsburg)

🇧🇪 Bram Lagae (2004, KV Kortrijk (on loan from KAA Gent)

🇫🇷 Nathan Zézé (2005, FC Nantes)

FC Nantes centre-back Nathan Zézé (19) is set to miss a major part of the remainder of the 2024-2025 Ligue 1 season. Ouest-France reports that the France U19 international is set for an extended spell on the sidelines as medical exams revealed a left malleolus fracture sustained during Les Canaris‘ home 2-2 draw against AS Monaco on Friday. Zézé had to be forced off the Beaujoire pitch with 20 minutes left to play against Les Monégasques.

Nantes head coach Antoine Kombouaré previously said that Zézé had sustained an ankle sprain which would have meant Zézé would be absent for six weeks. Unfortunately, medical exams undertaken on Monday revealed the true extent of his injury. Ouest-France understands that Zézé will miss up to three months of action. The Fenerbahçe target‘s absence is expected to compel Nantes to dip into the market for a centre-back.

What we should be doing with any money we bring in (especially if we manage to get good money for Nkunku) is going to Sporting or Leipzig, putting in huge offers for Gyokeres and Seško and making them say no. Not messing about with another teenager who probably doesn’t even want to leave Bayern and isn’t what we need at all.

Chelsea have a young, so far unnamed, centre-back lined up for the summer, whose move they could look to try to accelerate now.

Selling Nkunku and signing Tel would be the most Clearlake thing ever. Fucking hell. Long term target or not, he and Delap are the sort of players that aren’t ready to lead the line for us if we want to win titles/trophies sooner than later. Just like Nico. We need a more established player but this is the position in world football where there isn’t a lot of good options unfortunately.

Maresca would be better served trying to use Nkunku much more often as a 9 than actually going for these sort of strikers for me (although I reckon he is as good as gone). Delap has a totally different profile but still think that he needs to be playing every week to develop, if he has any sense he will remain where he is to the summer and perhaps even for a full second season in the PL if they stay up.

I couldn’t see Maresca dropping Nico for him in all honesty. Particularly given he hasn’t benched him for Nkunku who has been prolific in the limited minutes he has had.

💬As of this afternoon, Mathys Tel's position remains unchanged. He wants to stay at Bayern despite the very concrete interest of Chelsea and also other clubs.

However, there could be a rethink before the end of the window if Tel doesn't get any chances/game time in the next few games and get the feeling he's not in the coach's plans.💭
