terry26 6
Of all the people who would defend him, this is a turn out for the books http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle1928346.ece
Elliott 7
Its not so surprising when you read it though, considering he knows exactly what Drogba faced there.
.Cee 50
It's amazing how emotional and overly moralistic British football fans -- and red top pundits -- get about these sorts of incidents. And what is also astonishing to me, observing from 4000 miles away, is how selective and visceral the reactions seem to be to specific players. Some players -- Steven Gerrard being the best example -- seemingly can do no wrong in the British public's eyes, no matter how much wrong (diving, intimidating refs, TERRIBLE games for England) they are proven to do. Other players -- Lampard is one example but I think Didier is the best example -- simply will not be admired, even by "supporters" of their own club, no matter what they do that is positive on the pitch -- and will "never be forgiven" for the VERY few things they do (comparatively) that are not positive. Didier's behavior is sometimes hard to defend. No question. But the times he has really lost it on the pitch in a Chelsea shirt in a manner that hurt us are SO few and far between when you think about it rationally that I defy any intelligent person to say he has been anything other than a fabulous "servant of the club." And when you take into account the ABUSE he has gotten from row upon row of baying idiots, many of them wearing the shirts of HIS OWN CLUB, since the first day he got here, it is amazing how well he has maintained his composure overall. He has probably been one of the most unfairly derided and despised players in English football since we signed him for a transfer fee that has since been equalled and eclipsed several times and which HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH. We should be supporting him in a controversy like this. You think Liverpool supporters wouldn't be supporting Sir Steven of Merseyside if he was similarly provoked by fans and had a similar reaction? There would probably be a government investigation of the behavior of the Burnley fans to determine what they did that would make Sir Steven behave that way. Why does Drogba not get the same support -- or even benefit of the doubt -- from Chelsea fans? Kez 2,727
There was definately racism from the Burnley fans... Disgraceful They wanted a reaction out of Drogba and they got it http://boards.footymad.net/mboard/fmb.php?...;mid=2127802692
BlueLion. 21,491
The guy who wrote that response on CFCnet should be knighted. Spot on. Even Wenger is defending him!
blue_army 2
There was definately racism from the Burnley fans... Disgraceful They wanted a reaction out of Drogba and they got it http://boards.footymad.net/mboard/fmb.php?...;mid=2127802692 They have quickly removed that topic conveniant eh... i sat in the mhu and at first thought they were singing you fat bastard to lampard then realised he was no where near the away end , drogba and malouda were i think you can all gather what those chants actually were !!Also a lot of reports of them singing where's your mother gone to lampard when taking corners , i have reported the racist chanting using the FA kick it out link and urge any other Chelsea fans to do the same if they heard the chants. This is not on and their fans need to be punished.
Kez 2,727
That is sickening, the topic was the Burnley fans discussing it what they heard and what they saw. They said that the fans that were doing it are a disgrace to the club. Which is correct
