Arnautovic rumours seem to rearing their head quite often. If we really are after a CF during this window, I would prefer us to get someone with potential value down the line for a host of reasons.

Higuain is the last name I personally want to see here regardless of what he did under Sarri.

Typically, yes.  But they are currently 3rd in La Liga.  I think they are trying to make a real push.  They are 2 points behind Atletico Madrid in 2nd, and 3 points ahead of Real Madrid in 5th.
