What is your fuss all about? I guess even if we sign CR7...you will still moan... Enjoy the moment at least we are moving in the right or proper direction backing up Sarri and giving him essential players to make a success here...

No I would not have moaned had we signed Ronaldo on a one year loan without buy option. Or modric :)

I would. With current team, they wouldnt help us achieve much more.

We are in transition (again) and every smart team will BUILD their team during this time. Not loan other players without actualy buying them because they rather give the spot and time to players who are set to stay here for a while.

Put it this way. We got Kovacic and he has super season PERSONALY. However Chelsea as team isnt there yet to win stuff. But next year with signing or two they might be. However, Kovacic leaves and we are back to stage one without a quality midfileder, time and resources again have to be spend on Kovacic replacement, and those two signings are again pushed further. If we gave that time to Mason (huge long shot but just an example) and he exploded, we would have fixed midfield and could focus on those two new signings, hence improvement.

If we had perfect team bar that one classy midfilder or winger, then yes Ronaldo/Modric would be good. But right now we are rebuilding squad and Ronaldo/Modric for only a season wouldnt outweight the chance to develop a player in their spot that would actualy stay here for next 5 years or so.

I don’t disagree with your long term reasoning. Just that players of that caliber, modric and ronaldo, could potentially give the club and the team such a boost that their acquisition would outweigh the negatives. Could also be the difference between cl or not.

dont think Kovacic is in the same bracket and am also concerned that he may hinder RLCs development.

Yeah they would attract attention thats true. But in Kovacic case like you say it wont. And what we end up is player that will take time, patience, trust and he can say goodbye after a year.

And if Real sells aging Modric next summer and tells Kovacic you are great, come back: he will not hesitate for a second, that is my worry. RLC or whoever else will remain on this year level and we will need to buy new midfleder, spending money, time and who knows how will that new player adopt, another Bakayoko and we lose yet another year.

We can balance the two. As much as it's a building season it's also crucial we get back in top four, we are pushing it asking Hazard and Kante to give up CL football for the second time in prime years, a third will be taking the piss.

Not asking them to do owt! If they dont want to be here let someone buy them.

Kante is a guy that will give 100% every day all day. Eden you need to mother.

We dont have a god given right to be in the top 4 every year. we have just become spoiled to it,  Its times like now that players show their characters. They either dig in and fight or walk about not giving a toss.

Jorginho came to us from a team already in the CL so theres more for some players than just CL.

Most players would give it up as a one off under the right circumstances (i even think we still stood half a chance of signing Hazard even with a loss in Munich), but if we fail to make it again and they stay they would be missing CL footy minimum 3 of the 5 seasons between the prime ages of 25-29, thats a huge thing to ask from players so good at what they do, especially for Kante who's already will be hitting his 28th birthday with only 1 CL shot ever.

I dont THINK the WBM will leave to anywhere but PSG myself. And its an awful thought and hope I'm wrong but I see Eden at Manure when Mou is sacked and ZZ takes over. So whether he signs a new contract,we win the PL or we make him captain he will join ZZ when he whistles.

Yes I agree completely, but would be better if Chelsea planned ahead, now we were left with no other quality choice but Kovacic on loan without buy clause.

But IMO doesnt matter if our midfield is perfect, if Morata replicates last season form, we are not going to be in top 4, simple as that. We need two reliable players, like we had with Eden and Costa. Now we only have Eden. Thats not enough to get in top 4 right now, considering how shit our defence looked recently. Sarri got his midfield, but he also plays attacking football and we dont have quality striker which is very worrying.

The goalscoring burden should not be only on Morata and Hazard. Others have to contribute as well. When we had successful seasons in the past, we usually had at least 3-4 players contributing at least 10 goals. Take our 16/17 season for example - Costa, Hazard, Pedro and Willian each scored more than 10 goals - 20, 17, 13 and 12 respectively in all competitions. And if we look at last season's top four, three of the teams had at least 3 players who scored more than 10 goals in the Premier League:

Man City - Sterling (18), Aguero (21), Sane (10), Jesus (13)
Liverpool - Salah (32), Firmino (15), Mane (10)
Spurs - Kane (30), Son (12), Eriksen (10)

So, Willian, Pedro, Giroud, Barkley etc MUST also contribute their fair share of goals.

Sure but we lost a player that scored the MOST goals for us and we didnt replace him.

Hazard will likely be on around 15 and Willian/Pedro on 10. Even if someone else also contributes 10, that wont be enough because we need someone that can do 20 and we dont have one.

I don't disagree at all. But if we're talking about top 4, then a distribution of say 15, 15, 10, 10 might well be enough. Different case if we're talking for the title.

Kante is a good guy but he will try and make a move if he feels he has too, he is ruthless when it comes to his career it's how we got him in the first place.

In my head i was a bit different.

From the reports I read he never hid the fact that he was ambitious and wasn't staying at Leicester.

Whereas I think hes very happy here. He said that he wouldn't push for a move too.

So I think if we show ambition in different ways, prove to the lad via golden handcuffs how important he is to us then I dont know what more ANY player could ask for.

Tho I do think he would like to end his career at PSG

Those figures would be in a defensive system

We dont really know yet as we havent seen our starting 11 all together what if any difference this midfield will make.

I dont think many of us reallise just how much difference having a proper DLP and a ACM will make to our forwards yet. We have now got that faster acting/thinking/moving Cescy we have been wanting. And Kovacic is going to be a tremendous help.

I'm hoping it will make a vast change to Eden etc. Just as long as they put themselves into the positions they can do damage.

Its best thing to do I can see him do well in the serie A cause the football is slow and you have more time on the ball which u don't get in the PL

Yeah hope we got a decent loan fee , showed glimpses of real quality but alas was not consistent enough verging on horrible performances! The hunt for the new Lampard-Kante-Essien perfect midfielder goes on !
