Sellling Kante? Why would anybody suggest such a thing.

He and Jorginho will be key to our team for different reasons. Jorginho for dictating and building the game, always being on for a pss and Kante for counter pressing to get the ball back as well as his ability to cover so much ground, bring balance as well as a counter attacking threat. He’s going nowhere and he will be in the team 100% when he’s back.

It wasnt me who first said it, it was other posters. I only showed a legit way to end up with a stronger team if we did, than it is now WITH him. I do NOT want to sell him at all. That said, there is no way (of course my plan will never be attempted) anyone can argue that my final team yielded is not miles better than we are now WITH him. Of course we can get to that level without selling him, but that will not happen either. I am resigned to the fact we are probably not adding anyone other than perhaps a free transfer of Bernard, and MAYBE Vecino, both players I do NOT rate. I think Courtois is going to leave on a free next summer (or be sold for peanuts in January if we are already out of a top 4 finish). I think it is Morata or bust for striker, and I think Willian stays as our RW.

Not any team in the world would be stronger if they had Kante (arguably the best defensive minded midfielder in Europe right now) and sold him in my eyes regardless of who they replaced him with. Its like Madrid selling Ronaldo, they are instantly weaker, even if they got Hazard or Neymar.. still be weaker. He’s such a selfless player but he’s a huge part of the Chelsea team and also the France team and I think regardless of how simple his game seems, you couldn’t sell him and replace him with Ndidi, Milinkovic Savic or whoever because there aren’t many players who do what he does at the level he does it at.

I think we could possibly see Bakayoko out with Vecino in.  Maybe Caldera (if there's enough room for another non-HG player).  That's it.

this team

GK Strakosha or Cillesson

CB Rudiger, Christensen, Rugani (or Caldara), Ampadu

RB  Azpi, Zappacosta

LB Alex Sandro, Emerson

DMF Thomas Partey  Diadie Samassékou

CMF, deep holding playmaker  Jorginho

CMF backups Fabregas, RLC

AMF Pjanic , Barkley

LW Hazard, CHO

RW , Bailey, Bernadeschi (Both can play RW or  LW)

Striker Martial, Giroud, Bats

would beat this following team consistently if you played them against each other 38 times:

GK Caballero or maybe Reina

CB Rudiger, Christensen, Cahill, Luiz

RB  Azpi, Zappacosta

LB Alonso, Emerson

DMF Kante  Bakayoko

CMF, deep holding playmaker  Jorginho

CMF backups Fabregas, Drinkwater

AMF   Barkley, RLC

LW Hazard, CHO

RW  Willian (assuming we don't sell him), Pedro

Striker  Morata, Giroud, Bats

whatever difference Kante would make over Thomas Partey (who is no slouch at all) (and Kante, I absolutely give you, would be obviously disruptive as all hell)

the positives of

Strakosha or Cilleson over Caballero (massive),

Rugani over Cahill (depth is key in 38 game season)

Alex Sandro v Alonso (massive)

Pjanic over Barkley or RLC (Massive)

Wingers of Bailey and Berndeshi vs Willian (if he stays) and Pedro (massive)

Striker Martial over Morata

would more than overcome

Injuries and fatigue occur, the first teams rotates in Rugani or Caldara at CB, the 2nd possibly has to bring in Cahill, at DMF the 1st team team rotates in Diadie Samassékou, the 2nd, Bakayoko

The first team rotates in Bailey or Bernardeshi, the 2nd rotates in Pedro or who knows, if Willian is sold

the first team has incredibly more firepower and a far far stronger LB and CB (CB depth) situation

the first team would torch the 2nd in front midfield play and put the utter cosh to the LB's of the 2nd as well (imagine Alonso trying to keep up as a back 4 LB with Bailey or Bernardeschi or Martial or CHO!), the 2nd team also will struggle for goals and is reliant on Morata to do or die

Add in Caballero as GK, its lights out

Kante cannot play all 10 outfield positions, as much as it seems at times he does

I think the difference is even more manifest if you pit the first team versus the other big 6 EPL squads or top level CL competition

Chelsea want to make N’Golo Kanté £290k top earner

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/chelsea-want-to-make-ngolo-kante-290k-top-earner-xzsp2l7wq

Chelsea have offered N’Golo Kanté a new contract worth nearly £290,000 a week, which would make him the club’s best-paid player. They have acted to deter interest from Paris Saint-Germain in the midfielder who impressed at the World Cup, where he helped France to lift the trophy.

Kanté has been offered a five-year deal worth up to £15 million a season, which roughly doubles his present wage and would take him above Eden Hazard who is Chelsea’s top earner on £220,000 a week.

Chelsea will not allow Kanté to leave for France and the 27-year-old has not asked to go. He helped Chelsea to win the Premier League title in his first season after joining for around £30 million from Leicester City two years ago and his contract ends in 2021.

Kanté played in every France game at the World Cup and recovered the ball more often than any other member of the squad. His team-mate Paul Pogba said that he “must have 15 lungs” and Didier Deschamps, the manager, called him the “essential element” of the triumphant side.

Chelsea are ready to increase Hazard’s salary to a similar level to Kante’s, but the Belgian said recently that he was considering a move. He has attracted interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. Hazard and the goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is also wanted by Madrid, are due to return to pre-season training by Monday.

Chelsea have not yet found a replacement to enable them to sanction the sale of Courtois for around £35 million and there are other issues for the club as they prepare to face Arsenal in Dublin tomorrow and Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on Sunday.

If this is true then kudos to who ever is in control ... I mentioned this before, Kante needs to be rewarded and keep him at the Bridge doesnt matter how long is he's with us.

We need to start tying down the top players parallel to get new ones (if we are getting new ones)

N'Golo the new Allan

Chelsea's N'Golo Kante could thrive in new role under Maurizio Sarri

"Allan is an important player," said Sarri in 2015. "He has great dynamism, excellent ability to intercept and an understated quality. He is a complete player."

Which player do we have that is better than Kante in our squad? (Hazard doesn't count until he signs a new contract.)
No one, but it doesn't mean we should be offering 290kpw.

Hazard going to earn 350k+ at this rate

who cares what they make, just get them sign a new contract.

It's about setting a precedent

Its about sticking our 2 most important players in golden handcuffs, Can you honestly see the board giving any of our other lads a big pay rise? Maybe Jorgi in a couple of years

If Thibo sees sense, yes.

Also, it's more about future signings than those we currently have.

What players have we bought in just say the last 6 years that we would even dream of paying them that money?

We made a much worse precedent giving RLC the wages we did so early You get a que of hyped up kids all thinking that they too deserve £50k a week if they get upp'd to the 1st team at 18

I dont mind us giving our world class start big wages. Another precedent we dont want is for our big names fucking off. It doesn't help us arttract any similar level players if they do.

None due to the change in approach by Roman. No clue what's going to happen 6 to 12 months from now, so Kante could be the marker going forward. Looking to sign SMS, he demands 200kpw+ minimum or Lewandowski wanting even more than our top earners. There should always be a marker.

We didn't give into Solanke's demands, so there's some sense around. Players only have the desire of moving when they are either not playing or the club isn't progressing.

The latter needs to change fast, one way or another.

lol I know mate. Catch 22. Cant progress without new good players and those players wont come to a losing team

Cant buy new players till we sell the old ones that either nobody wants or wont pay what Granny asks for.

No players look even close to joining us right now

The £60mill cap is looking more worrying as the days drag on

Oh well we cant do owt about it.
