The goalkeeper arrives on a free transfer to provide highly experienced cover following the injury to Thibaut Courtois last month, and has signed a contract until the end of the season.

Amelia, a full Italy international, signed with Serie B side Perugia last season having previously spent four years with AC Milan.

He began his career with Roma before making his name with Livorno, enjoying subsequent spells with Palermo and Genoa.

The 33-year-old will wear the number 32 jersey, and will be available for our Premier League game against Aston Villa.

Well, you cannot have 3 great keepers. Lucky to have had Cech last year as 2nd choice and Begovic this season. Better than having Turnbull as your 3rd.

Can't be worse than blackman and won t probably ever play so no complaints. Italy had a bunch of good keepers but he still made their squad at times so he can't be that bad

Hilario and Schwarz played several matches although they were 3rd choice goallies. Begovic can get a red card or pick an injury anytime.

Anyone notice that aside from Mou, Amelia was the most animated person on the dugout after the Lucas red that never was? (I think it was that decision).

It's a shame he isn't really that good because if he was I can imagine Jose would have had a choice to make, as good as Bego has been shot stopping wise he hasn't organized the defence very well, I can imagine Marco would be screaming at them all the time.
