last season we had Drogba.and Torres and Lukaku.. this season danny has been injured. It is obvious RDM intended to use him.

Sturridge and Lukaku have Started 2 Games up top for Chelsea FC during the last 2 years. We have played Torres every game and only given Sturridge about 50 minutes on the field since the start of the season, Sturridge isn't going to stay at Chelsea to play in the Carling Capital Cup and other meaningless games when Torres needs a rest. He needs to be given 2-3 games on the trot up top leading the line, the way we have continued to do with Torres even when he went 24 hours without a goal, not 10-20 minutes at the end of a match. I've brought up the issue in the Sturridge thread and have made the point that our second strikers have less time combined on the field than 3rd choice strikers in other clubs challenging/playing in the CL. He might play at a lesser club like Liverpool but what's important for him is that he plays. The current policy is driving him out, there was a lot of rumours that Remy failed a medial which forced RdM to keep Sturridge - like I've said what we are doing with Sturridge is criminal and he will easily outscore Torres if given the same amount of time on the field - because he creates chances for himself and doesn't rely on service as much as Nando.

Right now to me it seems unrealistic that Torres will be rested to 2-3 games unless he gets injured or suspended. So by the winter we will have a player on his way out.

so, we have a front line of Mata-Hazard-Oscar and you still want someone to pass the ball around? Torres does it, and that's quite all he does, when it comes to finishing our chances it's up to the others.

pff.. 36 goals in a season? not good enough, need someone with 50 goals and 25 assists at least, or can stay with Torres, our saviour, he will come back to his form!

Sturridge came late to us after the Olympics and then got injured .... show some trust in our manager.

Oscar also came on after the Olympics and played a part of far more minutes before getting the nod against Juve. Oscar played a total of 110 minutes before getting his start against Juve while Sturridge has had 50 minutes during that same time frame. Below is a total time on the field before his injury compared to other strikers/forwards in the league:

I think the whole situation is ridiculous:

Danny Welbeck - 252 minutes played

Javier Hernandez - 108 minutes played

Wayne Rooney - 112 minutes played

Robin Van Persie - 221 minutes played

Lukas Podolski - 293 minutes played

Theo Walcott - 110 minutes played

Olivier Giroud - 221 minutes played

Andrei Arshavin - 13 minutes played

Luis Suarez - 360 minutes played

Fabio Borini - 292 minutes played

Andy Carroll - 18 minutes played

Carlos Tévez - 331 minutes played

Edin Dzeko - 195 minutes played

Mario Balotelli - 169 minutes played

Scott Sinclair - 87 minutes played

Sergio Agüero - 14 minutes played

Jermain Defoe - 339 minutes played

Rafael Van der Vaart - 85 minutes played

Emmanuel Adebayor - 60 minutes played

Clint Dempsey - 12 minutes played

We send Lukaku on Loan he is playing at West Brom

Romelo Lukaku - 94 minutes played

Shane Long - 252 minutes played

Marc-Antoine Fortune - 235 minutes played

Peter Odemwingie - 160 minutes played

Our policy is just abysmal what happens if Torres is injured our other two forwards barely got 60 minutes combined on the field

Fernando Torres - 351 minutes played

Victor Moses - 32 minutes played

Daniel Sturridge - 31 minutes played

I think you are unable to read, I've said that he barely featured before he got injured.

The quote I gave was before he was even confirmed to be injured.

I don't think we can have both Torres and Falcao, because we will be very hard on FFP.Remember we loaned players like Ess, Benayoun just because of their wages and we also desperately wanted to get rid of Malouda for the same reason. In heaven or in FIFA 13 we would give Torres to Atletico and +20-30 mil. for Falcao but thats very unlikely in the real world, so its kinda complicated.Paying 50 fuking million pounds for a has been and paying him 250K per week is HUGE disadvantage for any club.Iam starting to actually hate Torres, he is like a cancer for the club.

@spike spiegel i understand the type of player you are talking about. More like an ibrahimovic that can pass well and link up.

But remember that we have something those teams dont have, which is 3 serious assist kings behind the striker.

He doesnt need to be involved with the play at all, he will only block space for mata and oscar to operate. He just needs to make runs to take away the center backs so that mata can penetrate there or find him with a pass to finish.

Falcao shows no mercy to keepers on a one on one, but torres seems to be less confident of shooting (except in the last match)

Falcao has a better ball control than torres, i think you underestimate what it means for the striker not to lose the ball. Look at drogba, you must foul him instead of taking the ball from him first. This helps the other attacker to make runs for the pass and brings the whole team into play (I think this is torres worst problem)

Falcao cant dribble like torres but torres still ends up losing the ball, which is worse than passing and moving like falcao

The reason why it seems the whole team plays for him is he runs towards scoring positions anytime the team is on the attack and i mean everytime. This will make the midfielder know that you will be in the box everytime he wants to attack, making it easy to read his position. (Another popular example of this is ronaldo. He runs aggresively and is in the box even ahead of benzema)

Falcao takes the responsibility of scoring for his team, which means attempting more shots. Torres prefers to pass sometimes which is strange comparing him to his fellow striker david villa (another person i admire)

He is also energetic like most south americans (aguero, tevez, higuain, suarez)

Watch the video on page 31 from RamiCFC9 and you will see some of falcao's abilities.

He was injured before the Olympics, he became fit enough to play at the Olympics and was deemed fit enough to be on the bench at the start of the season he was on the bench against Man City; Wigan; Reading; Newcastle; Atletico; QPR; Man City - so I'm not sure whether you guys have no clue about who is injured and who is on the bench for a large portion of the season or you are playing dumb

Games start early in the morning where I live and I usually wake up when the games has already been on for a few minutes so I rarely if ever know who is on the bench besides those who are subbed on of course. I could have sworn he was injured during the Olympics but I remember he had that scare with meningitis before the games. I did not watch any of the Olympics either, the times were to extreme for me to watch.

Obviously some people have other preferences for who should be our next top striker, but there's no need to downplay Falcao and his marvelous achievements.Saying he is just a "fox in the box", "only scores because all his team work for him", "doesn't work hard for the team" is just ignorant and childish.

First, regarding Fletcher: He brings much more to a side than just goals. He is a striker who can play as a target man and win first headers, or play on the quick counter attacks as he did in a few Sunderland this season. He is an excellent finisher, but he can also set up other players. He can drop off and get involved in the build up, and his link up play is excellent.

Second, regarding your view on strikers: It simply doesn't work in the PL. Although it is a vital role of the striker, he can't just score goals. he needs to assist, to make spaces for other players, to drop off and get involved in the passing when the opposition stack the box, and most of all he needs to defend. Each team has a defensive system that involves all 11 players on the field and breaks down if one of them does not do his job. The striker needs to press the center-halves, cover for his wingers if needed, and defend set pieces. For example, how many goals from set pieces did we concede last season or the one before when Drogba was in the team? Very, very few. And the reason is that DD is always the man that attacks the ball when defending which leaves our CBs to mark their men comfortably. It's something that does not show up in stats, but is vital for the team.

Last year Fletcher has 2 assists and Falcao had 5... Falcao is one of the hardest working players there is. if di matteo puts him under a duty you can bet he will do it and still get on the scoresheet.

Fletcher got more key passes than Ben Arfa, Hoilett, Gervinho last season. His lay backs and flick ons are very underrated, actually his main asset is his controls in full stretch, technically he's just brilliant for that.

He's able to wins free kicks out of nothing, he won a lot of aerial challenges (one of the best strikers last season).

I don't even think that he's a fox in the box, he's impressive technically, he's fluid on the ball and quite often he gets free kicks because the opponent has to foul him because he can barely touch the ball

What of Falcao? he's not just a fox in the box. I'm sorry but I find the comparison really laughable. I'm not hating fletcher he's a good player but Falcao is on another calibre all together. Any team in the world will take falcao in a click of a finger and he would probably start too.
