Rmpr 8,977
Yea I suppose. I'm just really skeptical about this 'big names', especially strikers.. We have a habit of 'eggs in one basket', I really hope we sign 2 strikers in January and keep Sturridge too. Have more options upfront can benefit the players, competition doesn't necessarily mean people lose out. It's a motivation. United have Rooney & Van Persie, but now Hernandez is firing making Fergie think. City have Aguero, Baloetelli, Tevez and Dzeko, and now the latter has given Mancini cause to play him more.We had a pretty good balanced and talented squad from 05 through 09, if you analyse carefully we had a top5 squad for sure. However we made the same mistakes RM, Bayern and Milan did with their transition from 2002, 2001 and 2007 respectively. We let our core go old without making cirurgical changes (or wrong ones) and changing managers like we change underwear.Since we still got a spending mentality, we will have to do the same as RM and Bayern did. We will have to definetly stick with a manager (at this point I dont even care who he is) and mix the team to one system and characteristic. Take a look at their first 2 buying seasons: RM bought Kaka, CR7, Di Maria, Xabi Alonso, Ozil and Benzema...We are in the same process, we already bought some great young players and we will continue to do so by buying specific positions that adds to the team right away (Falcao, Hummels, Paulinho/Vidal, etc). Not all of them will work and we will lose a lot of games (it took Mourinho 2 years to beat Barcelona) but it will pay out. Everyone keep saying we are in transition mode but when we lose they are the same who get extra mad!At first, while we dont buy the 1st Team we want , the eggs will have to be placed in the bags we current have. However, with time and competence we will distribute them well enough so they dont crack, just like 2007/08/09.
EdenHazard 163
Falcao would be my favorite, Is there another more hyped up player in the world right now? Other than Messi/Ronaldo of course. Neymar you could argue, But with the sound of things he doesn't want to leave Brazil until after the world cup. I'd love Falcao, But what would it cost us? Would Torres be in the deal? If so, What happens if Falcao comes, and is just like Torres? Doesn't score for like a 800 minutes or so? Just because he's banging them in for fun now doesn't mean he'll do it in England, Although i myself think he's more than capable of adapting. Its possible he wont! Majority of his goals are penalties/assisted by team mates who are given orders to cross it into him rather than try and score themselves. You can't build a team around Falcao like at Atletico when you have Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Ramires, in the current XI.
Rambo 1,729
I agree, he has done better this season, but he's the type of player i would rather have behind a striker, than as main striker.Off topic but sick signature! Tika-Take or not, Those three will create space of which Falcao can go into and finish. Several times we've seen Mata/Hazard/Oscar play that final ball, for the finish to be either awful. Or not even a finish (Torres dribbles off and loses it).
Thor 2,701
. Several times we've seen Mata/Hazard/Oscar play that final ball, for the finish to be either awful. Torres is trash for the most part, but people love to place all of the blame on him.We have a midfield who love to play around with the ball too much, and a system that rarely gets out striker involved. It was the same way with Drogba here last year, lets not pretend it wasn't. He scored only 6 goals himself all of last season in the league. While we had Terry score 4 or 5 himself; our center back... I just don't like the way we get the ball moving in the front. We seem to try and overplay and find a shot that is too perfect. We need more attempts on the goal instead of just circling the ball around the area. I don't think any striker in the world will help us immensely if we don't change our mindset. WTFFFFFFFFWhat's amazing in that video is the amount of times TORRES is bypassed...The TEAM clearly see him as a wasted ball - they know the opposition will turn the ball over...He needs to sort his shit out, start shooting and stop dribbling - AND then people might pass to him... But watching that video - effictively shows we are playing a 10 man team...#dissapointed

TacticalBlues 2,817
A horrid performance from the TEAM all round but it was in games like today where one big man like Drogba, or Lampard would pop up and get the crucial goal. We need some potency up front, complain about Torres's service all you like a good striker will make room for himself and get his head into the game. January can't come soon enough... But we have to be careful what we do, and how much we spend. Because no matter what, There's always a chance that the signing will flop and under-perform.
