Does this match fitness excuse also apply to other squad players like Remy,Zouma,Mikel et al who are required/expected to come on at anytime without any real consistent game time or starts and give good performances? or is it only exclusive to falcao.

It only applies when it fits the narrative :D if Mikel was out for 3 months and came back playing crap everyone would be on his back instead of saying 'he is not match fit'.

It doesn't fit when bringing up the first half against Remy to hilariously declare that Falcao should be our no. 1 starter.

Yes, there is something to compare him to: His form last season & Copa America. Leaving this out completely and trying to make that irrelevant makes you ignorant.

What you DON'T get either is that it doesn't matter if he "barely" plays for us, he'll always be the same Falcao we saw last season. As I said earlier, Chelsea and Mourinho aren't magicians who magically transform a finished player to lethal player. We tried it with Torres, we tried it with Drogba (on his return).

What part of he's finished don't you understand? It's like trying to make a three-legged tiger run fast as a four-legged tiger.

Sorry to barge in in your debate, but I agree with you.

No need to call him ignorant. We are all mates here! :D Or at least I hope so.

It's hard for most players coming off the bench for only 25 minutes at a time, especially for lone strikers. Let's judge him after a full 90. I don't think anyone was expecting him to light the world up, but if he offers a Drogba-like contribution this season and scores us 10 goals across all competitions, that's good enough for me from a player who has cost us £2m.

Remy and Ba before him make use if their limited time.

Costa is number one, that won't be changing this season, so we need the back ups to produce when they get the chance.

along with around 180k in wages so more like over 10m per season. Also he is never getting full 90 so guess we will be waiting a while...

If we're playing that game then Remy is a failure because of his wages and transfer fee and he only scored nine goals last season*. Don't be selective with your arguments. You can't level a player's wage as a criticism for or against him. Falcao took a massive pay cut to come here, don't forget.

* before anyone says, I'm being deliberately antagonistic to make a point. Remy's contributions last season don't require any debate.

You make a good point though, I can't see him getting more than 6 or 7 starts this season, like Drogba last year.

Costa isn`t gonna play every game in every competition even if he stays healthy so it`s premature to think any of our back up strikers are never going to get 90 minutes.

not expecting much from Falcao, don`t expect him to be with us next season but if he can contribute here and there and be some insurance incase Costa misses some significant time then it`ll be worth it.

I wouldn`t have signed him personally..but still don`t class it as a waste for one season.

For first in a lot time, Falcao has not been convened to the national team, being fit. Pekerman has said in the conference that Falcao is adapting to his new team and 15 days out of the team for the call of a national team, will be harmful to him.

Good decision, I think.

I agree to some degree, my brother. However, many people are going mental in social media. Now a lot of people will be angry or very critical of Pekerman depending on the result we get from the international friendly.

Sorry for going off on a tangent. Back to topic!

Vintage goal from Falcao. Killer istinct. Really hope he is starting to recover his form. Scoring goals like that is what great CF are about, not being angry or starting fights.

I'm sensing a little hostility towards the Brazilian from you B)

Shame our fans encourage Costa's sideshow. It got old incredibly quick. Would sell him this summer if a player like Benzema was available.

Did well today and went some way to justifying being subbed on over Remy. Although i'd still like to see Remy given a few chances in the near future but hopefully he is better than he was against Arsenal cos he was absolutely shocking then. Tbh quite happy that we've got 3 decent strikers in the squad, once the team starts playing well i'm sure all 3 of them will flourish.
