I don't care we sign a big name player like Falcao or Cavani. I don't care if it's a big name like Falcao or Cavani.I just want a striker who can link up well with our midfield and can put away chances when under pressure. If they do a good job of that then we will be a much better team.

Well the only big names who aren't already playing for big teams at the moment are the likes of Falcao and Cavani.

If you want a player who can link up and put chances away, then Cavani it is, though it's not all that simple. Money is always a factor and it's going to be brought up regardless. It's like Torres would've been better had he been signed for say 6 million, he still would've flopped in my opinion but he would of been better.

Higuain is more than good enough. When he was 18 or 19 Real Madrid signed him for a reason, he was obviously talented and had the potential to be great. Build a team around him and he'd score as many goals as you want. Hes a natural finisher, if he was played regularly he'd score at least 20 goals a season.

He got 26 goals last season while being in and out of the team, also added 10 assists.

Really 26? Wasn't he not out for 4-5 months with a back injury? Thats more than impressive. 10 assists is also incredible.

Shows hes really an allrounder, able to provide for his team mates as well as bang them in. People tend to see him as a poacher but he runs the channels well and creates goals for others. His finishing is incredible though. Benzema is a better player but Higuain is a better finisher.

Exactly, of course money is a factor.

It's highly unlikely that Cavani will leave, we all know that. There are many players who can link up play and put away chances that cost less than 30 million. I just don't think it's true when people say we need to spend 50 million or so on one player to fix our problems. Sure, Falcao would help, but he's not the only option we have.

Yeah 26 according to wiki, 22 in the league.

and Falcao.

He's not in that class imo. He is a very good striker, just like Cavani, just like Ibra and Van Persie. But those other 3 players are special.

Falcao reminds me of Shevchenko during his Milan days, when he used to be one of the most dangerous strikers and one of the best finishers in Europe. Sheva used to score for fun, he had a goalscoring instinct and you'd rarely see him miss chances when he was at Milan. He didn't think twice, he used to shoot from everywhere which is what made him such a great player, and Falcao is the same. He doesn't waste time thinking either, he doesn't even waste one second, he knows that his job is to score goals and he's determinted to do that from the first minute. And we need him, because players like him win you games. Roman was late when he signed Sheva, but for Falcao now is the perfect time.

My only reservation is signing him in January. I hate signing big transfers in this window.

Yeah clubs always look to rip other clubs off just because its half a season in and its inconvenient for clubs to sell players for lower fees just for that reason really. January window sucks. I'd still take Pjanic in January though at the 12-14 million price quoted and Bony at 7-10 million too if it means we don't spend 50-60 million on one player in January.

No, no please don't put Ibra and Falcao in the same sentence. Falcao is pure class, but he will never be like Ibra.

Zlatan is one of the rare players you can even compare to Drogba, those two are masters of this beautiful game.

LMAO.

In fact I think you are Ibrahimovic himself, because no one in the world believes Ibrahimovic is that good, but Ibra. In fact Zlatan is the greatest asshole ever to grace in football world.

Yes, Falcao will never be like Ibra, because no player in the world will ever be that overrated.

The swedish was a dominant figure during the years of the decadence of Seria A. Then he went to Barcelona, where he was no more than a shy character (even Pedro scored more goals than him). Then he went back to Seria A, even more decadent at that time.

Now 31 years old he is playing in French League, 5th in UEFA ranking. I think you used to play a lot of PES during the PS2 era...

Tbf he was good at Barca till the disagreement with Pep - after being shifted to the wings so Messi can play in the middle.

Torres wasn't exactly lighting it up just before arriving here. He was already on the decline. He didn't walk through the door at the Bridge and suddenly turn shit.

Falcao is in prime form and looks to be getting better.

Can't see any way he'd be a flop here.

The weather, south american players and english weather is just horrible ,even worse when its january

Chelsea have never been a team that depends on it's strikers for goals.

Key : GS = Goals Scored

GSBS = Goals Scored By Strikers

GSBS% = Goals Scored by Strikers as a % of total goals scored

Let's get this straight - the way Chelsea play, they do not depend on their strikers, be it Drogba, Torres or Anelka for the burden of goalscoring. It is a burden that's shared evenly throughout the team, in fact our goal scoring sources are more evenly spread than any other team in the league; and it's not like we've done badly during that time, scoring the second highest goals during the last 4 seasons.

With guys like Mata, Hazard, Moses, Ramires, Oscar, Lampard (not to forget our traditional strong suit - defenders from set pieces), that's not going to be a problem any time soon. What is a problem though, is us playing with 10 guys whenever Torres decides to go missing, which is in every game. What we need is not so much a pure finisher like Falcao or Higuain but someone who has a more rounded game and is able to contribute meaningfully to our style even when he's not banging in goals.

This is my reasoning for not wanting to splash all that money on a brilliant albeit limited player like Falcao. It is much better spent strengthening our multiple weak spots, namely a competent alternative to Torres, a midfield presence and a quality passer in that band. I say it again - Lewandowski would be a dream; he ticks all the boxes.
