Poor game yesterday? I'm one of Ashley's biggest fans and its evident that the last 3 games have been some of his poorest, he is usually focused 100% of the time but these last few games his focus has dwindled big time and I can't help but think its since this contract mess got out about the one year two year deal thing.

I can't understand for the life of me why players just don't accept the one year, play their best and receive another one year deal!?

@,

Cole's weakness is fast and direct wingers, his track record against Valencia, Walcott and Lennon leaves a lot to be desired.

Stick him up against a tricky winger (IE Ronaldo) and he owns him all over the park.

The irony is i think (from watching some of his games on loan at Reading) Bertrand is the other way round.

Because players of his calibre and status have offers coming at them from left and right. Not that I don't agree with what you're saying, though a typical fan view.

Another shit poor game for Cole. He allowed so much space on his side of the pitch in the first half, and his awkward touch almost let Swansea through on Cech's goal. That late howler, which led to Swansea's goal, was an icing on a cake of shit. Di Matteo should have taken him off, not Oscar, though admittedly he wasn't that great either, when he introduced Bertrand, and Cole needs to pick it up.

Let's be fair a little. Cole had a bad game yes, but let's not forget that he is left most of the time to mark 2 players because Hazard very rarely tracks back especially on counters.

And tbh, I think all of our defense is sorely missing JT to organize every thing.

Think he is either still being affected by his ankle problem OR his head has gone elsewhere after the breakdown in contract talks with the club.

Yes but let's not also forget that Hazard isn't always the one playing in front of him. Moses and Oscar rotated and at times played in front of Cole and helped him too defensively.

That's a bit unfair to him. Why is he taking all the blame. None of his 'mistakes' against utd were his fault, imo.

Not saying he should be taking all the blame but he has been poor recently. Not been playing at his usual standards.

And he was partly at fault for United's second goal. His decision not to back track when Rafael was coming forward(Hazard was tracking him) allowed Valencia to have so much space to bomb down the right flank to create Van Persie's goal was criminal. As an experienced and world class defender, you would expect better decision making from him and not one like Luiz.
