The atmosphere for the big games is excellent, it's one of the best in the world imo. It may sound silly but QPR at home doesn't exactly get the juices flowing, local derby or not. And in any case, I didn't think it was particularly bad; there have been far worse atmospheres than there was today.

I honestly think it's a case of Mourinho just deflecting/saying things out of frustration after what was a relatively poor performance against a side we really should be smashing at home. There was no need for the comment as all it does is give the press/opposition fans ammunition against us - was there really no better way to make that point? - but then I've come to expect Mourinho to say/do something silly every now and again so meh.

Regardless of if he's right, why shame your own fans like that when you obviously know that it's more a systemic problem than just a simple matter of "the home support is shit"? If the atmosphere bothers him so much to the point that it's so torturous for the team to play at home then there's a whole lot he and the club can do about it. Don't dump all the blame on the fans. His comments were borderline disrespectful. The away fans are generally fantastic and I've never heard him sing them any praises.

Nobody should be offerended or feel it is harsh at all. It is the truth and we shouldn't be scared of the truth, our atmosphere sucks compared to other teams, even in smaller leagues like ligue 1 and Seria A, the atmosphere is amazing at times there but rarely ever at stanford bridge. Sometimes I hear chanting, very loud atmosphere and I smile and I'm like 'wow', but then after a bit I figure out it is the away fans singing, yes like today the 2,000 QPR fans totally lit up the whole stadium when they sang, and our 40,000+ can't overpower them.

@Dee - Of course the fans are to blame for, who else is meant to make the atmosphere, is Roman meant to come down to pitch side with a drum set and start something off?

I agree that it isn't the best, but I wouldn't go as far as saying it's like an empty stadium. There was a period in the game where the MH were singing non stop for about 15 minutes, and after the first goal the QPR fans were completely silent up until the equalizer.

But I don't see how it's any different to most other PL sides at home. The only time you get a good atmosphere is if a.) it's a massive game b.) the team has been struggling a bit & the fans give extra encouragement or c.) you have an organised singing section (Palace)

If you take out the 50 or so fans in the corner at Palace, it would be like every other teams atmosphere

You REALLY need to watch other leagues, mate!

Those are Hilal fans literally climbing up the side of the stadium to watch a sold-out match today in KSA.

And let's not even mention Turkey, Germany, South America...etc.

 in all seriousness though that game had all the makings for a loud atmosphere - London derby against a big team, tackles flying all over the place, and Wenger shoving Jose - yet it was pretty subdued for most parts.

Honestly, I don't remember it being bad at all in that game.

I watch quite a few Liverpool games as they're always on TV for some reason and the vast majority of their games are just as bad if not worse than ours. And this is the club that supposedly has the best fans/atmosphere in the country. This is a football issue and not specific to just Chelsea but we will be hammered for the next few days in the press for it.

Football has changed a lot, you're not going to get people singing for entire games. Our home fans almost always do well in the big games and the away fans are simply brilliant.

What does it solve, coming out and making a remark like that in the press - especially one in such harsh terms? It's not like now he's said it the Korean/Japanese or whoever tourists will start belting out the classics from the terraces.
