Petr Cech

I really don't understand people who are saying Petr is a traitor!

Clearly anyone with a little empathy knows that a man of his status should not be sitting on a bench!!

Imagine how confronting it is for him to be behind Tibo in the picking order... a GK that is far younger than you... at YOUR homeclub! though nut to crack!

The fact that he chooses Arsenal? Guys... you tend to forget he's been living in London for the biggest part of his career. Staying in London (family wise) would always be his 1st choice.

Don't forget that Petr didn't force his way out of the club... it was more or less a statement... "we have younger & better now... so stay if you want, but go if you should"!

We can only take a bow for the amazing career & moments Petr had with us!! Also the way he dealt with Tibo taking his place... deserve a lot of respect!

Petr you've always been a loyal man and a great value of the club. Time goes by... It's now our turn to show you our loyalty to the PERSON you are... and not the Colours you are wearing!!

Fare the well!

Cech or no Cech, Arsenal's problems go way beyond the goalie, so it's highly unlikely to see them challenging for any trophies besides the COC or the FA cup. To Petr I'd like to say thanks for the services, we've got some great memories and no matter what happens from now on he's already cemented his place as one of the greatest keepers in the club's history.

I'll be pissed off with Roman if we don't sign a world class player after this. We WILL struggle to win big trophies next season if we don't get a WC player in.

Also hope we bang in 5 goals past Cech in a month's time. And gets injured. Cruel, but he's not a blue anymore.

You're so classy it hurts.

Peter Shilton is warning Petr Cech will need protection from the Arsenal defence if he is to be a hit at the Emirates.

The majority of Gunners fans appear delighted with the £10million deal for the veteran goalkeeper, with many suggesting his signing could transform the club into genuine title contenders.

But Shilton, England's most-capped player, believes the 33-year-old could struggle if the backline is not solid.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the goalkeeper legend said: "He is not getting any younger. I have always rated him, he is a top quality good goalkeeper, but I've just thought on a few occasions that when Chelseastruggled, he struggled a bit sometimes.

"He was playing behind a really good defence at Chelsea and that gives you confidence week in, week out but if he doesn’t get that cover we will see if he has that top quality and that confidence to perform."

i agree with this

First of all, a confession. I joined this forum to stick the knife in over Cech as repayment for a similar gesture a group of Chelsea fans perpetrated overy Cesc last year on our forums. Didnt work that way. Thank you to the majority of you for proving me wrong about your fan base. We are going to treat Petr like a king and give him the best finish to an amazing career that we can. As you will with Cesc I hope. Pleasantries over, if you want to retain that title, no worries, you likely will. But you'll suffer for it this time. We're going to make you bleed.

I can't explain to you how happy I was when we brought Fabregas. I always liked him and Henry so much, and it was always very painful to me not seeing them in Chelsea. Petr deserves all the best and I can't wait for our clubs to face each other!

Much I don't like to say it but you guys are proving the most flexible club in the top 4.....mata to mutd, cech to arsenal, lampard to city (lol), Johnson to Liverpool, sturridge to Liverpool...kudos to ya!!!

Yet all those player's have won one trophy combined for those teams.

He went a bit far saying 'forget' but the basis of what he is saying is true.

Cech choose to join Arsenal and directly compete with us for silverware, he's going to be spending the next few years hoping we drop points in every single league game we play, and in turn we are going to be hoping every game is miserable for him.

While I will never forget what Cech has done for Chelsea and wish him well on a personal note, for as long as he plays for Arsenal I hope he has a mare professionally, because wishing anything else is wishing good on Arsenal.

On the pitch Chelsea and Cech will be enemies until he leaves Arsenal.

Saw this now. Not sure if someone else posted it.

Jose Mourinho explains Petr Cech’s move to Arsenal

Source: http://www.dirtytackle.net/2015/06/29/jose-mourinho-explains-petr-cechs-move-to-arsenal/

Petr Cech has moved to Arsenal and, of course, this makes me sad. This makes me sad. Petr was at Chelsea for many years. We achieved great things together, but now he has decided to go to Arsenal like a top race horse suddenly deciding to pull a manure cart on a farm and people are asking why.

The first question is why would he go to Arsenal when he could go to any club in the world? Petr was with Chelsea for 11 years. He loves the club. He is 100% blue. But did he want to keep his family in London? Yes. Did he want to play in the Champions League, but not past the round of 16 because he has already won the competition with Chelsea? Apparently. Could his scrum cap be strapped on too tight, cutting off the blood flow to his brain and affecting his decision making abilities? I don’t know.

Whatever the reasons, he decided that Arsenal was his only choice. Not because he loves Arsenal so much. Because someone else is now wearing his favorite shirt and the only shirt in his size at the shop happened to be red, so he had to buy a red shirt. That’s it. It doesn’t mean he likes red shirts, just that he is now wearing a red shirt and wishing it was blue. This is sad. Tragic.

The second question is why would Chelsea let him go to Arsenal — a rival and maybe our nearest title competition? This is an easy question. Very easy. Because Arsene Wenger has never beaten me and he never will. He is a specialist in failure. I could give him my whole team, plus Messi, Ronaldo, and a 10 goal lead and he would still be so frustrated that he would push me on the touchline like a weak French baby man. His tie flapping in the wind from by my laughter.

It will be exciting to see how Arsenal still finish third or fourth even with one of the best goalkeepers in the world, though. Of course they will have a strange number of injuries and all of their players will be too busy smoking cigarettes and making fun of Tottenham to focus on beating good teams, but maybe they will try something new this season. Like accidentally locking themselves in the dressing room at halftime or deciding that their fans paying additional fees to see the team score a goal would generate even more revenue for them not to spend.

But Petr will do well at Arsenal. He survived Andre Villas-Boas and Rafa Benitez at Chelsea, so I’m certain he can deal with Wenger. Plus, he can always go to a bigger club after a little while like all of Arsenal’s best players. Which reminds me, Cesc Fabregas would have talked Petr out of going to Arsenal, but he was too busy kissing the Premier League trophy that he waited so long to win. And did in his first season with Chelsea.

So good luck making the most of your new shirt, Petr. You’ll need it.
