He has always been sloppy even during his purple patches. His acceleration is bad and his touch often heavy, but when he plays smartly, participates in build-up and scores I have no complaints. Yesterday was the Diego I want to see week in week out. And he scored with his head! Super well done.

I can accept the occasional sloppiness, when he still can contribute the way he did in Southampton game. Didier Drogba is a good example of this....for periods of a game he won't seem to be in it, but then does something fantastic the next minute.

Thought yesterday was his best game in a Chelsea shirt for a while and that's even if you take away his goals. His movement was excellent and cause all sorts of havoc to Soton which was always his best attribute.

Movement, as well as passing/link up.

That lay-off to Hazard (for the chance that followed the first goal) was sublime. Didn't even look at Hazard before making the pass, and he weighted it perfectly. Shows what he can do when he's in the mood.

I thought he had a really poor game. Almost everything he touched turned to shit. Sad thing to say but I'm just glad he won't be here next season.

I thought he would have buried the chance obtained from the Luiz long pass, especially with the form in his last game

Still created chances though, with the Hazard opportunity and of course, the pass to Fabregas for the Willian goal.

Who would u like to see replace him??

I'm of the opinion that we don't need a world class striker in our team to win. I'll take a consistent 7/10 striker over a hot and cold one like Costa any day.

Morata obviously would be ideal, Lukaku for a reasonable price is a good option as well.

Exactly. With top players elsewhere, you really never need the greatest striker on earth up front so that you win cups and titles. Juventus had some of the most no-name guys ever and still played incredibly well (it's amazing that they've got 6 titles in a row already, it doesn't feel that long). If Vucinic, Matri & Tevez were good enough over around 5 years, we'll certainly have 'good enough' in whoever we buy - as long as they don't consistently break down moves. That is not a 7/10 striker (i'm looking at Lukaku). That's a hot and cold striker, which is not what we're talking about here.

Wow, what a battling performance yesterday. Not at his absolute best, but signs his confidence is returning rapidly. Nothing outstanding,  but a far cry from his recent form. That turn on Williams on the half-way line was reminiscent of the turn against Otamendi (I think?) when we did City 3-1 at the Emptyhad. Unfortunate with his one big chance, the ball just wouldn't come down quickly enough, but his hold-up play put Lukaku to shame. His involvement in Willian's goal was superb, what fantastic off-the-ball movement and a slick little inside pass to get Fabregas through into the box. Returning to form at the right time!
