MrExcalibur100 7,124
Villa scored. Costa was invisible. Awful performance. Not true at all. Was very isolated by Spain's sterile play in the 1st half and he still won a penalty. Also came extremely close to scoring with a header that was stopped by a magnificent save from the keeper in the 2nd half. His runs were also generally decent. Far from "awful". BenIsLegend 475
Him and fabregas were mentioned in Chelsea reports from last nights gamesDoubt it means anything tho. Cos Villa was aswellTwo David Villa goals gave Spain victory over El Salvador in Maryland but there was no Chelsea involvement in the action with Cesar Azpilicueta remaining on the bench, as did Fernando Torres with Diego Costa playing 74 minutes up front for the World Cup-holders before being replaced by Xavi. Both Villa goals came in the second half with Cesc Fabregas missing an early penalty. The Fabregas mention is just a coincidence imo but the Costa one isn't. What is the need for them to mention he was playing, how long for and who replaced him. All they needed to say is that Torres wasn't playing I mean they didn't mention who was in the starting XI ahead of Azpi.
Jase 43,479
Squawka Football @Squawka 6m Diego Costa scored 27 league goals last season, more than Torres has managed (20) in 3 & a half years with Chelsea.

calculatingInfinity 1,472
But can he do it for Chelsea? Probably not but a bit less could do too. If Costa should fail spectacularly it's time for a good hard look at the club itself, there's something wrong with the club if every single striker fails to impress and some goes off again to be wildly successful elsewhere. If he fails this season probably we need a new attacking manager, get someone like Klopp in and if our strikers still fail then it means our club is simply cursed. BlueLyon 9,359
I think we fucked with Torres twice. First when we bought him and second when we kept him for this long.Im sure even if Costa wont be as good, the disaster wont be as bad as was with Torres. Lumping the ball to Drogba and expecting him to do it...etc. Most strikers doesn't have that quality, they obviously would thrive more in a attacking system. And over the the year how many seasons have we done it? Maybe 09-10 under Carlo is the only one I can remember. As evident, Drogba, Anelka and Malouda all reached double figures. The 2nd sentence of you is also inaccurate because we are referring this problem over the last decade rather than just last season under Jose
The_Flash 1,144
I was watching him in the Spain game as I haven't seen much of him before. Knowing he is coming to Chelsea I suddenly felt quite protective over him. He got hit in the face with a ball and I was like "...they hit Diego!!!..."I really hope he does well he we had such sh*** strikers last year it was hard to watch. None of them could have that wow season where they hit 20+ goals. Now either they are all crap or it is a problem with the system we are using as a whole.
