Waterfall 893
Now we know why Bertrand Traore replaced Kakuta on loan at Vitesse?Tbf, we already knew.Vitesse could use Traore a lot more than they could Kakuta who didn't play much. Traore will start for them and maybe could spend another year there.
lionsden 4,689
If someone told me back in 09 that in the not so distant future, kakuta's stock would drop so low to the level where he will be used as a make way shift for a desired target, I had say no chance. where did it all go so wrong for him. Hutcho 8,443
A Bola: Can you guarantee that the game against Porto was your last in the service of Benfica?Matic: "Yes, it was my last game. I want to thank all the people at the club and all the supporters. Benfica will forever be in my heart. I played here two and a half years, I gave my best in every training session, every game, and now is the right time to leave. I want to improve, I want to go to a better league and I want to go to Chelsea, the club which I also love. I also thank the president of Benfica, who did everything he could to keep me here but I have wanted to leave and I insisted on leaving. I respect the effort made to keep me at the club, he and all the people of Benfica were very good to me, they made me happy, but I repeat that I insisted on going because I understood that the moment is right."How is your relationship with Benfica's president Luis Filipe Vieira?“We have a perfect relationship because he is a good man and a good president, very fond of club. He really tried everything to keep me, but my decision was made. I leave with Benfica in my heart.Do you think the fans will understand your decision?NM: “I hope so, sincerely. I have always given my best for the team, the club and the supporters. I hope they recognize that and understand my position and my desire. It is true that on the eve of the Porto game you did not prepare with the team as a way of exerting pressure?NM: “No. The only truth in this story is that I went to the concentration a few hours late, I was authorized by the club to deal with personal problems and after that I went quickly to Seixal.“I wanted to go to Chelsea, even if Benfica had better options. I was very young when I was at Chelsea and I didn't show all I could. Now I want to show that I have quality to play there. It's a top club and I want to work with one of the best managers in the world.“When I first went to Chelsea I was very young and there were great players in my position. I really had few chances to play back then. Now it's different: I'm 25, I'm not the same player who left Chelsea. I'm sure [Abramovich] knows that. Now I have the chance to go back and work with one of the best manager in the world.”

The Skipper 20,609
Tomo was right, the David Luiz-Torres deals were the worst bits of business any club has done in the history of january transfer windows. But then again, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Why is the David Luiz deal bad when he's clearly increased his value since he has joined us?Torres yes, Luiz no. If we wanted to sell Luiz he'd go for more than we got him for. And again before you say it, there is no way Matic would've made it if he stayed here. BlueLyon 9,359
If it is true that he loves the club and realy wants to prove himself here, we will get superb midfielder and amazing person who will always give 100% to the club.Dont want to say it too early, but Welcome back Matic :blue scalf:

Matic then and Matic now should be regarded as completely different entities as they are completely different players.

If we wanted to sell Luiz he'd go for more than we got him for.Luiz is in the same position as Mata in this squad now, the only reason he's been playing recently is due to Lampard's injury. He's worth £25m tops and that's IF the Barca rumours were true, so no he hasn't increased his value all that much. As a club we would have only benefitted long term with that January 2011 transfer window from never happening at all really. And again before you say it, there is no way Matic would've made it if he stayed here.It doesn't make it 'all worth it' though, especially when you consider we threw everything but the kitchen sink to sign Modric. Term-X 7,891
By that, I'm not quite saying AVB would have been more successful if we had managed to sign Modric for the pivot, but still..

Matic then and Matic now should be regarded as completely different entities as they are completely different players.Exactly, its like saying Fabregas before Arsenal and after it was same player. Obviously there is no comparison between Matic 3 years ago and now. We sold him for 2 mio because he was worth that much and now we bought him for 20 because he is worth that much. And I dont feel bad with this signing, club didnt put faith in him back then, but if we kept him, he would now be playing in Championship, instead he developed his skills greatly and it was infact good decision by the board. If you take a look at him as another player, he is fantastic and easily worth what we paid for him, especialy in this crazy market. Any other DM would cost same or even more. In no way, this is a bad deal. He will improve our team and thats all what matters.
