BlueLyon 9,359
Sky Sports News @SkySportsNews9sSky sources: Chelsea make £20m bid to re-sign Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic #SSNIf thats true, we are far from signing him. Generaly, its fair price but I doubt Benfica will accept it. This could last for whole month, i wish if we have any intention on buying new players, we should do it as soon as possible. But obviously, if they accept it, it would be great deal; Matic for 20mio in january, not bad.

Marvin123 533
He is at award ceremony tommorrow I believe the deal is already agreed. They just held onto him for the big game against Porto
The Skipper 20,609
That said, Matic + 25m for Luiz was indeed a horrible deal. Please, it wasn't. Matic at the time was worth peanuts. No one would've said that Matic was worth any more than 5m euros at the time and there is no way Matic would be the player he is today had he stuck around at CFC. Hutcho 8,443
Be a great signing. As for the "id rather have x y or z player". It doesn't work like that.It would appear he is available. And he is the sort of player that should fill a position we have needed to fill for a while.

Ainsley Harriott 2,732
I'm finding the fees reported to be kind of low, taking into consideration some of Benfica's president statements.
Pizy 18,906
Still not gonna get too excited until it's confirmed, but just thinking about what some of the other high profile midfielders have gone for recently or are valued at now, this seems like brilliant business.Modric was £30m+Witsel was £40mIllaramendi was £30m+Midfielders like Gündogan and Pogba are being valued at astronomical fees. This could be a very shrewd buy at this price. Fingers crossed.
The Skipper 20,609
we needed to fill this position with a different type of player though I feel. still, a good player, but not what will take us to the next level as a DLP who is much needed. hope he and mou proves me wrong. This is how I feel about it too.I feel he has a decent passing range and composure in order for him to become the link between midfield and attack which means it could work out decently. He's not the exact type of player I would like but he's not a bad option to have around at all and at £20m it'd be a fair deal.
kellzfresh 7,229
How long can it take? The transfer window only lasts 1 month. The media in Portugal reports he will be in Chelsea next week.Let's hope so. Benfica are normally a stubborn bunch. Only the fact that they didn't get into the knock outs of champs lge is in our favour.
Yeboii 1,844
Does anyone know if Matic is a fan of the club or something like that? For example, I wouldn't think Pogba would go back to Utd after they let him go.
Toli 977
I think they are letting us having Matic for such a price (if we really pay aroudn 20-25 m) because they are getting 35 m for Rodrigo (if true)...thanks to Zenit for that
petre.ispirescu 4,928
I'd love to see the look on Tenenbaum and Gourlay's face when Matic arrives back to Cobham.

The Skipper 20,609
I'd love to see the look on Tenenbaum and Gourlay's face when Matic arrives back to Cobham. Why? Again, if he stayed at Cobham, he wouldn't have been the player he is today.
sdrcfc 461
If both were around the same price, who'd you rather, Pogba or Matic?
The Mak 4,459
One of the main reasons I was against this was because of the insane fees quoted in the past (£35m+). But £20m really isn't that bad in the January window. He seems a lot more qualified than Guarin anyway. The main thing is: we're buying a CM. Finally. The_Flash 1,144
I can't say I know much about him, what he's like now etc, any good? Do we need him? Isn't it strikers we need?
