Samuel Eto'o

I really really really don't want Eto'o here. it's definitely going to rustle my jimmies when a 30 something year old Eto'o playing in our team when Lukaku is on the bench. if we're going to sign a striker, let's sign a world class striker. not just some player who's going to retire any year now. if we really sign him, then Torres and BA must be really sh#t in Mou's eyes.

I think you've missed the point. Id rather see Eto upfront than Torres/Ba. And one of them (ba being the most likely) will leave in that case.

Even if I want it aswell, Lukaku wont be starting all games.

Whilst that's true I feel that goals are very important and instrumental towards winning the title. We've seen in with RVP last season and this season I think it's necessary. Yes we could argue that in 04/05 and 05/06 we didn't have an out and out scorer but then again we had an absolute monster midfield. This season our midfield wont cut it. Then again you're right, link up play with our assets in attacking midfield will help our AMs strive.

However I don't feel Eto'o is the right man for this link-up job, he likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender and exploits space, similar to Lukaku and Ba. He has better dribbling and link up than the two of them, but it won't be a huge improvement to what we've got. Rooney is perfect for us.

That's the old Eto'o. The Eto'o of late, especially since his Inter days, has pretty much reinvented his game to suit being a link up player a lot more. Mourinho knows this.

I really don't mind if Eto'o scores around 15 goals this season. The importance is the quality in them, who they're against and how vital they were at said time. Eto'o is a good 2nd choice stop gap option just in case we don't get Rooney. I do agree though that Rooney is the perfect player for us to get. How attainable he is is questionable right now.

Yeah you've got a good point. I've heard Eto'o has been playing off Traore at Anzi so I think he would be decent at link up play. I still think Rooney would be the best choice but Eto'o would be an upgrade in terms of link up play to Lukaku and Ba.

Could be a decent signing. I just find it very unlikely that a striker who is in the latter part of his career and has spent the past two years in a poor league will come to a demanding league that he's never played in before, into a new team (with players he's never played with before) and all of a sudden be able to adapt quickly and deliver. I just can't see it, but who knows. Probably a better option than spending 30 million on Martinez.

MODS: Can we add @tancredipalmeri to the unreliable list and not post any of his bull shit?

Well we can add him but can you stop people from posting it anyway?

There is a "bad words filter" for the forum that prohibits members making posts with certain words. I wonder if I can convince Jim to add the words Tancredi and Palmeri to it.... :Goober:

Dont want him but if we get him we have to sell players we have way too many! Dont want us to sell anybody for him except maybe ba. But hope etoo chooses a slower league and joins inter again!

It will most probably be Moses, Ba and Mikel that leave before the window closes. Maybe Essien could get shown the door.

Moses is probably the player worth keeping just because of the homegrown rule, but neither of the players mentioned above are needed... Mikel is slow and clumsy on the ball in tight situations and Ba just feels lazy up front.
