It's pretty weird to see a player that is regarded as one of the best deadball specialist in Europe to not be able to take corners brilliantly, I'm not dissing Willian OFC. I loved him since back when he joined us in 2013, props to him for stepping up his game for this season.

One of the best deadball specialist in Europe? 3-4 months of scoring from free kicks doesn't make one a specialist. blues.bridge

Are you implying that the free kicks that Willian scored in the last few months of last year as ''flukes'' then ? From what I have seen, I don't think any of them were ''lucky goals'' or ''goalkeeping errors''.

They were great but it doesn't change the fact that he only managed to do that for 3-4 months and doing it for only such a short period of time doesn't make one a specialist. DYC. 7,542
He scored 5-6 FKs in quick succession. A dry spell was always going to happen. Question is if he can get back to converting free-kicks on the regular (though it will never be like before). Agree with Jason here, too early to call him a specialist. Drogba had that one season, converting FKs and regularly threatening. 09/10. But never again.

No one in the entire known history of the game has ever been able to continue the rate of conversion Willian experienced over an extended period . Of course it was just a hot spell and of course he won't get it back. Such runs as Willian's and The Drog's are never more than coincidences dressed as form. Juninho's rate wasn't as good as that, but still very impressive. However, his accuracy was normally on point most of the time. Willian isn't even hitting the target as of late

You've got a great point there, Jason. I'll admit it that it was pretty childish from my POV, 3-4 months of good run of form in FKs doesn't mean that the player is a specialist in taking FKs. Sorry for the late reply btw, I'm too busy nowadays and can't really be arsed to check the forums daily  On 26/3/2016 at 0:28 AM, DYC. said: He scored 5-6 FKs in quick succession. Drogba's form back in 2009/10 season was insanely good bro, one of the best performances I have seen from a striker in recent times.
the wes 7,212
Chelsea will hold discussions with the Brazil football confederation amidst concerns that Willian could miss the start of next season if he is selected to represent his country at the Olympics. The winger, who has been Chelsea’s star performer this campaign, is also set to play for Brazil at the Copa America. Willian has scored four league goals this season. I know footballers are portrayed as stupid - but this lad has brains. I would do exactly the same thing. chill and prepare for next season  Kunter
LDN Blue 7,903
Neymar reached an agreement with Brazil board where he'll participate in Rio but not at the Copa. Not sure how inclined they will be to do the same with Chelsea.. Iiirc, clubs have to release players for Copa as it's a FIFA tournament, but have no such obligations for the Olympics. [emoji4] chill and prepare for next season [emoji4] Neither tournament is necessarily major (Centenario is just a way to make some extra money and the Olympics is essentially an Under 21 comp). I guess the fact the latter is in Brazil and they are yet to win it adds some importance, but he's been on a decline since Mou left IMO.Not sure what's gone on since then. I think everyone is giving him a pass to an extent, but there is a question to be answered. mccg

But it went wrong so didn't bother. Representing your country at any Touranment is major to a player. By the time Mou left the season was already gone. This has clearly been his best season at Chelsea.
