North Korea and USA

I for one am watching it very carefully since I have the precarious position of being an American in China. If this all boils over, it could be a nightmare! However, right now I think it a lot of propaganda and hype from North Korea. I am nervous about this young leader and his need to prove himself.

The US unfortunately gets involved in everything and since the US were a major factor in the war and in the splitting of the two counties the US will always be a target of N. Korea. :(

As to the US and the mis-definition of communism... I think that it was more a case of a poor implementation of the concept by the countries that attempted it that caused the misconception. The countries that called themselves communist or set out to be just didn't have a concept of how hard it would be to take a society that was based on idea of "classes" and suddenly make everyone equal or close to it. Also, someone still has to hold the reigns.

Just my thoughts... Very early on a Saturday

It'll be very interesting to see what happens with this. Really hope it doesn't blow over into something ridiculous but it can happen. It's human nature - deep down everyone is has a barbaric trait to them. Hopefully wisdom will curtail that though. The ball is in N. Korea's court IMO, if they make any sort of move then it'll be a disaster.

Where do you live?

I thought my post that you quoted and my nationality tag would give it away... I live in Hamhung, North Korea.

How is that possible? I'm genuinely interested in how you can access the internet and watch Chelsea games from there. I thought that wasn't possible for a regular citizen. Actually from what I've heard people don't even speak English in North Korea. I've been fascinated by this country for a long time, it would be extremely interesting to hear from someone living there.

You know, if you are very interested in this country you can visit. Tourists come and go but a very small number of them. I dont know how you can but there is a fancy hotel in Pyongyang and everything. I learned english from the internet haha, watched tv shows, movies and music to learn and then I spoke to people from english speaking countries. Plenty of North Koreans have internet connections, thanks to South Korea.

Maybe jail, or worse. But I rather want to be in connection to the world and have that caution than not being in connection to the world.

And it might be very bad if they find me since I also have a PS3 with a connection and everything.

I'm not interested in the circus they offer to tourists. I know how it's like, my sister's boyfriend went there as a journalist. He said it was all a fake show for tourists. They always had people following and watching them and telling them what they can take pictures of. First thing they had to do was put flowers under the gigantic Kim Il-sung statue. If they didn't do that they couldn't go further. They had pictures taken of them while they were placing flowers so that they could say "westerners love kim il-sung". He did manage to take some illegal photos though. But generally looking at the pictures, it seems as if everything was nice and dandy over there.

No, I'm interested in the real North Korea, not the masked and polished tourist one.

I keep hearing about the DPRK being aggressive. How? The US have provoked the DPRK into this for decades and they aren't some cartoon villains. China has abandoned them in exchange for their economic alliance with the neoliberal West and there was even going to be a tangent about how Putin and United Russia only won the election due to voter fraud and the CPRF actually got the most real votes and United Russia is just the means of fully converting and co-aligning the Russian state to the economic and imperial agenda of the neoliberal West and this renewed and intensive provocation just happened to come right after trillions of dollars worth of precious metals were discovered beneath the DPRK.

This is all very confusing. I have only just recently taken interest in this because it seems to be making the headlines of credible news sources

There is a chance this could end horribly. I dont understand N. Korea, i dont know whether they are trying to flex their muscles or something to show their citezens how powerful of a nation they are, or they are seriously considering war.

If they do decide to launch an attack (which is clearly not wise or the logical thing to do, but their leader seems a very dillusional person) it leaves whoever they attack (and their allies) in a horrible situation. the people that live in N.Korea seem to be treated horribly. sorry if thats offensive or wrong, i admit, my knowledge of this just comes from the odd random story on the internet etc, so to have to go to war against what are innocent people because of the decisions of one deluded leader would be horrible.

OR N. Korea keep given it all that and shouting "U WOT M8!" across the pond and eventually someone gets fed up and decides to attempt to take out their leader to free the citizens, then other nations disagree with the actions (which is probably unlikely, im not sure N. Korea even have any allies...).

but for the US to be moving defensive missile systems in place, it suggests they are not taking any chances.

on another note, what would happen if they did go to war? clearly USA or whoever would just take out their leader (i dont remember his name, this is why i keep referring to him as "their leader"!) then what? would they just hand it over to the south koreans (and PSY). i wouldnt see anything wrong with that, but i imagine its not that simple.
