My uncle was there with a Canadian UN contingent a while back and their security team told them "don't leave the hotel, even in groups, even during the day". That's not to say that this makes Pistorius more or less likely to be guilty, just that it's a very very dangerous place. The car flame thrower was an idea that I have never seen actually put on a car. Yes we have our dangerous areas and we do have violent crime but it is mostly happening in rural areas and main city centres. Cape Town city center is safe enough to walk around alone but if you walk around with you wallet bulging carrying your IPad and iphone around for everyone to see, I am afraid you are going to get mugged, but this could happen in certain areas of Brazil, New York, wherever.I have lived in JHB and I have to say it is a more dangerous place we have high walls we have electric fencing but its not like we get robbed all the time. Lots of our crime is because of illegal immigrants and poverty. Its unfortunate because we have a really beautiful country. As for Oscar, he has been charged with murder, he was reportedly having fight with his girlfriend the night before and also screaming was heard by neighbors before the gun shots. I was never a Oscar Pistolius fan as he was a hot head. I feel sorry for his Girlfriend and her family as she had so much potential and she was a FHM model.
