West Ham could be 'powerless' if they receive big-money bid for Mohamed Diame

West Ham United know they are at risk of losing Mohamed Diame in the January transfer window as a result of the midfielder's fine form.

The 25-year-old has impressed at Upton Park since completing a free transfer from Wigan Athleticspacer.gif after running down his contract at the DW Stadium.

Senegal international Diame is reportedly attracting attention from a number of clubs and a release clause exists in his contract.

Hammers co-chairman David Gold confirmed the fact on Twitter, as he said: "Diame does have a release clause in his three-year contract. He joined us from Wigan on a free transfer. "West Ham boss Sam Allardyce would not be drawn on the speculation regarding the finer details of Diame's agreement but did admit a big offer would leave the club "powerless". "I don't disclose players' contracts publicly. There's always a situation where you're powerless to keep a player because of the size of the price," he said.

"You can't turn it down. The chairman says, 'Look, we can't turn that down, Sam - we've got to move him on'."

I reckon he could do the job for us in midfield in the pivot. He can tackle, dribble, score great long shots, he has a good technique, great work rate etc.

The game vs Liverpool today before he got injured he was class andf when he came on vs us he titled the game in West Hams favor. His release clause could be 10-15 million though. I'd still pay that for him though.

We don't need a box to box midfielder and we already have someone very similar and much better than him in Ramires. I honestly think the first order of business to do in January is to get (preferably loan) a DM to replace Oriol.

The release clause is £3,5m indeed.

Ramires is miles ahead of Dembele, Diamé etc... even if they are pleasant players to watch too. Ramires' last services are unmatched.

Since when did 3.5 million become big money though according to Big Sam?!?! If his release clause is 3.5 million we should get him in as a squad player at least! Really like Diame

I just don't think that he will fit in our team. He fits perfectly with West Ham because they are a physical team and he probably would have fit with us back when we had Ballack and Essien in midfield, but bring him over now and have him play one-touch passes with the likes of Mata and hazard and he will look a championship player.

Apparently his injury not that bad - only about 3 weeks. We should seriously consider him for one big reason.

IMO for some of Ramires' deficiencies, he brings an engine in the midfield and dynamism which the rest of our midfield cannot provide. Without him, at times we look slow and ponderous. Diame for £3.5m would give depth in that position.

Also his ball ability is underrated. A lot of people were quick to dismiss the signings of Moses and Cahill and have been pleasantly surprised by their contributions. £3.5m is little risk for a player who could potentially step up to the next level by moving to a bigger club.

Sign him sign him sign him!

And also sign Moussa Sissoko as he can play on wing and would add another option to our attack.

And Benat or Modric to add to dpl role.

Three players, but I think we need them as we are so short on bench...

He would be a great signing IMO. He would add quality to our midfield, and a real strength and presence in the middle. Add to that the importance of having a player able to step in straight away - he is proven in the Premier League and already settled in London.

Sometimes with some players you just have to take a chance with them to see if they will adapt to playing at the top level, and for £3.5m it is a very small risk to take. We all already saw first hand what he did to us this season, he almost single handedly won that game for West Ham. We couldn't cope with his mix of pace, power and athleticism, matched with what is an underrated football ability.

If he were to come here and prove himself then we have pulled off a coup, and if he were to come here and struggle then there are still likely to be a number of clubs who would be willing to give us a profit on the player in 12-18 months time.

If we had a choice of Diame for £3.5m, and Fellaini for £22m+ (who let us not forget is also unproven at the very top level of football), I would go with the low risk option and sign Diame.

what

:)

Well Sissoko plays in three man midfield behind striker at Toulouse and he is becoming great player. A starter for France on right wing. With his size at 1.87m he would add lot to our attack and b plan if needed. We are little short on wingers and this man could turn in next Malouda for sure. Maybe even better version.
