I don't believe confidence has anything to do with his finishing. His technique is bust, he is incapable of scoring the goals he used to. If he were more composed he would score more of the easier goals but I refuse to believe that he would be capable of this

I disagree. I think confidence and finishing are very closely related. Just to give you an example, I've seen Neymar fail to score goals for Barcelona that he used to score for Santos and Brazil with his eyes closed. I can't watch the videos because I'm on my phone's internet but being confident in the moment of the finishing may change everything, your composure, the type of shot you're going to use, whether you should take another step or not, whether you should try another dribble or just shoot... confidence can completely alter what you're going to do to score. Back to Neymar, I've seen him shoot the ball on the opposing goalkeeper countless times for Barça in situations where he would just chip the ball over the goalkeeper if he were playing for Santos or Brazil, solely for lacking confidence. Other times he would try to dribble too much, other times his aim looked completely off...

Still he probably won't ever score as many of those goals based on pace. Which he seemed to score quite a lot.

It is sad to see Torres leave, because he will always be regarded as a flop. I believe we flopped by paying 50 million quid for him. He always worked his socks off and can never be descibed as lazy. How can i forget his belief goal against mancity in the 90th minute,or his goal in the europa league final, or winning the corner for that drogba goal in munich, and of course that great night in catalunya.

He didn't always worked his socks off, if he did there wouldn't be as much animosity for him as there is, Sheva is one player who truly did 'work his socks off' which is why you don't here a bad word about him despite it not working here. During about 2012 I kept a close eye on Torres for a few games at The Bridge and his attitude was an absolute disgrace.

The Torres won the corner excuse is hilarious, only he can get credit for being tackled, Bosingwa made an interception just before Fernandos goal at the Camp Nou, which if he didn't would have meant almost certain elimination (two Barca players would have been up against Cech) that was a trophy winning contribution yet no one brings that up, if it weren't for Bossy Torres would have tossed away 180 minutes if hard work by the rest of the team.

Those excuses are really amusing though. I just cannot stand at all how some group of fans can even have such strong affection to Torres and constantly find excuses to defend his failure at the club. It's really pathetic when people claim he gave his all/best/100% during his time here. In fact, it's quite an insult to those who have/had actually contributed properly to the club and even more so when some of those players get/got slaughtered more for their mistakes while Torres, whatever bad things he did, was forever faultless in their eyes. :doh:

Not to mention, Eto'o got so much stick for so little in comparison and while he weren't brilliant he was so much better than Torres in every aspect bar heading. I remember Arsenal away last December it was all Torres worked hard this that bla bla bla, week later Eto'o scored the winner vs Liverpool and the same people were having a go at him (although that was probably his worst match forsus despite the winner but that ain't the point).

He must have some dirt on quite a lot of people, there is no other explanation I can think off for the sheer amount of excuses and double standards he is afforded.
