Fernando Torres

I'm not pulling it, or defending him, I'm being understanding towards his own hurdles.

We all have them... I'm just saying it's not all dandy from his perspective and I don't want anyone to have sympathy for him. I don't have much of it. I'm just saying it sucks to be him from that perspective. Yes, he's rich. My crush at high school was too, didn't have a care in the world, was living a normal life like every other kid at school and then one day he decided to put a bullet on his throat when he was 20-something. Not a millionaire, of course, but sick rich. I suppose all money in the world didn't help his case back then. It's not about sympathy just saying that he's behaved quite decently given his position. Anyone in his position would behave nice because they have an amazing bank account, right? That's all that matters it seems...

A few seconds before I posted on this thread, I was posting 'kill me' on Mourinho's thread when I read he confirmed his stay. It's just people are so fast to ignore others may have problems to deal daily too, but it seems if you're sick rich those problems don't matter... as if he isn't tempted to just mess things up from time to time and start not giving a shit again. As you all said, the money is in his bank, all he needs to do is show up to work. He doesn't even need to break a sweat to get that money. He could be throwing tantrums, moaning, complaining, giving the fans the middle finger, whatever, but he's been quiet, sorry if I can give him credit for dealing with his frustration in a nice way. He probably pays a lot of his rich money to a great shrink to keep him grounded.

Look i'm really sorry about what happened to your crush. Like you said it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor we all have hurdles to jump in life but you really seem to be exaggerating what Torres is going through.

He's got a nice family, a nice bank account and he's still getting regular playing time at a top club.

His life really isn't as bad as you're making it out to be.

I really don't understand why you suddenly feel the need to sympathize with Torres.

I also find it extremely weird that you think he deserves credit for not " throwing tantrums, moaning, complaining, giving the fans the middle finger, whatever". What exactly does he have to throw tantrums, moan, complain or give fans the middle finger about ?

The club and supporters have been nothing but supportive towards Torres. We've tried everything we could to get him scoring.

Not to mention (I know this has been repeated to death but some obviously still don't know) we only get a small percentage from shirt sales. Most of it goes to Adidas.

So what? Adidas must be pretty happy about it, and about us.

Lukaku might be a nag and a whiner but this turd does a constant 'piëta' while underperformance ever since he is here.

We wouldnt take this from anybody. Any excuse is an illustration of a double standard concerning our players! Also, saying he works hard on the pitch ..... Just no.

It's interesting timing for Mourinho to come out and say "we aren't selling Torres" right after we sold Lukaku. Why say it at all? With the timing, I think he means what he says. He said it himself, "I'm just the manager and I have to listen to the club". I hope this isn't a case of Torres still enjoying "protection" from the higher-ups at the club most especially Roman.

The question is will we be bringing in another 4th striker. I seriously doubt it. An ideal plan will be to bring in another striker that will give Costa serious competition and then we give Torres the Malouda treatment or at least a very fringe role like Ba got last season.

Wow. How many shovels did you use to dig that out of the interview?

Sheesh.

If he sells Torres we only have Costa-Drogba.

There is no protection from the 'higher-ups', Roman sold the back to back Chelsea player of the year because Mourinho didn't fancy him. It really is a very simple case with Torres.. no club in world football will match his wages.

Mata wasn't Mourinho's pet project though. I'm not saying there is protection, but there might be. This is Chelsea and anything is possible. And as for the wages, I don't doubt that, but if the club is desperate to offload Torres, they will pay him what is left of his contract and put him on the market for cheap. I just don't see any urgency there.

Hugh?, what do you mean by that..

Mata was on the road to becoming a Chelsea legend, but Mourinho proved he had all the power by selling him. Mourinho got rid of him, not the club, not the higher ups.

Atletico Madrid president - "Many names have been mentioned, but none of those players, neither Cazorla, Callejon, Torres nor Chicharito (Hernandez) are on our agenda," Cerezo said on Radio Marca. "If we sign another player, it won't be any of them."
