Fernando Torres

I can't say I am not upset to see him go. I liked him, I did but I can't say either that I am surprised sadly he was given every chance and for whatever reason he never lived up to his earlier promise.

I was always willing him to do well, he seems a decent bloke.

I am sad he is leaving but I guess he just didn't score enough goals :(

A two year loan is strange.

A two year loan is strange.

It isn't, it's actually very smart from our end. If we sold him we'd have to pay off his remaining transfer fee ( i believe it's around £18 million) immediately, causing us to take a hit in our 2014-2015 ffp balance.

With this being a loan we'd be able to spread his remaining transfer fee over those 2 years and pay £9 million this year and 9 £million next year.

There is no fee involved in the Torres deal and Chelsea describe it as a two-year loan for a player who struggled to justify the record fee that had prised him from Anfield. However, they will take some comfort from saving upwards of £15m in wages over the two years that were remaining on his contract. It is understood he will depart without a pay-off to replace Mario Balotelli at San Siro.

From the Guardian. So basically Milan are covering all of his wages. Brilliant.
