RoyalBlues 4,050
As a part of Costa deal, how if we loan Torres with an option to buy later, 50%-50% wage paid next season. Surely will they consider it?No.
Beepu 1,714
Why do I have a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that he will see out his contract? I don't think any of us can take anymore of torres leading the line.

If they can't sell him....He wouldn't be a terrible 3rd choice, but he is paid the wage of a nailed in first teamer. If he doesn't cost us £18m/year and is on less than £70000/week then it's not a problem. But the reality is that he is the most expensive player in the books at the moment, in terms of what he costs us per year in wages and amortized transfer fee. And I think all of us agree that he's had enough chances, even if there are no transfer fees it would still be alright because surely no one will want to pay his high wage + transfer fee, we just need to get that 18m/year liability of the books . If he takes a wage cut then it is a different story, but will he or won't he?He should, because he is terrible.

But no one will take that wage, we'd have to pay at least half no matter what. We say he should take a pay cut, but would you? Or me ? Or anyone? No.

We say he should take a pay cut, but would you? Or me ? Or anyone? No.Footballers take pay cuts all the time for the good of their career, it's not the same as me or you being asked to give up half of our wages but still we often see normal people who give up lucrative jobs and just do what makes them happy even if it means earning less money. Even at 80k a week Torres would still make more money in a year than 99,9999% of people earn in a lifetime and he's already filthy rich so if he cares about his own general happiness and that of his family's he should take the financial hit. I think he and his family would be much better off back in Spain, with for example Atletico, but the financial reality in that country is that a club like Atletico simply can't afford to pay him what he currently earns.Look at Kaká, he was on something like €10m a year at Real Madrid but he gave up 60% of that to go back to Milan, the club he loves, and he's clearly doing much better there both on and off the pitch. Sure, Torres could try and extort the club to give him a significant portion of his current wages to accept a move elsewhere but there's always the risk of him pissing off the wrong people and ending up like Malouda. Its a waste if he sacrifice 2 years of his time ending like Malouda. But, he already won lot lot LOT of things. Maybe he wants to treat his 2 year salary at Chelsea as his retirement money who knows
Pacquiao 1,834
Expanding on the goal stats from our forwards earlier.Torres in the prem - just under 1 in 6.All comps - just over 1 in 4.Eto'o in the prem - just over 1 in 2.All comps - just under 1 in 3.Ba in the prem - just under 1 in 5.All comps - just under 1 in 4.Also bear in mind Ba has barely got 90 minutes since arriving and Torres got unconditional full outings between Drogba leaving and Ba arriving make it even more damming for Nando.Ba is not very good and no where near Chelsea standard but nothing will convince me he's worse than Torres.Eto'o done very well for a past his prime ST in his first season in the PL! It took him a while to adapt but once he did he was class! Eto'o would have tore this league to pieces in his prime!Eto'o has done enough to get another year but if Drogba and Lukaku are coming back plus Costa there will be no room for him, and especially no room for Torres. didierforever 7,349
I hope he is a gentleman. By now he should know that he would not have much part to play next season. He should be aware that he was not the player he once was. Hopefully he can swallow the truth and do what's best for him which is LEAVE US even if it means taking a pay cut. Good for him, good for us, good for the team that gets him.

Partly because of the whole thing of THAT kick being his last for Chelsea, but also because, apart from the end off season big games, he was poor in his last two season's here. It also might take him a while to settle back into playing in a major league again, like it did Eto'o and he was 4 years younger than Drogba would be this season. CHOULO19 24,332
Ba's minutes-per-goal ratio is actually amazing. He's only made 6 starts this season. His sub appearances normally come after the 70th minute. I doubt he's even played 1000 minutes for us this season - I reckon he's averaging a goal every 125 minutes or so.I believe it was a goal every 98 mins after the Swansea game (I remember Neil Barnet saying so) which is by far the best among our strikers. What he has played since then.... 80ish against Liverpool, ~20 against Atleti, 90 against Swansea. So yeah, about every 125 minutes as it stands. Tomo 21,751
If we can't get rid of him this is the next best thing, the 5m we save could fund the next bargain ala Azpilicueta.
