His worst performace yet but please keep the faith

Nicolas Anelka

Bran Ivan

Ramires

Ashley Cole

Florent Malouda

All them were abysmal when they started for Chelsea, did we press the panic button with them? no and we have (or are) reaping the rewards.

A bit dramatic Max?

He was lively today. Growing with each performance, obviously not operating at that level we know he can, but I still think he's still bonding and gelling with the squad. We thought his first would trigger a wave, but fixtures haven't been easy for him since then.

Simply too early to make him out to be an awful buy.

 No seriously, if say United or Madrid had spent 50 million on him for what we saw today, I guarantee that you and I and our neighbours and their dogs and the fleas on them would be laughing our respective asses off!

I'm not criticizing the signing, of course not. He will come good, form is temporary and class is permanent and all that, but he was horrific today. Got taken off the ball as easily as a 5 year old. A first touch worse than anyone else on the pitch, no composure, no menace, no fight, no hunger. You only need to see the way he performed against Ham to know what desire is. If it hadn't been for the even more shambolic Anelka he would have definitely been my flop of the match. Completely made jokers out of us who were calling for him to given a full game.

The contract is for 5 years and not 5 months as I like to say, but the lad isn't worth a fiver atm.

How does that make up for spending £50m on Torres?

It's standard procedure for any big club, to sign the odd youth player from abroad.

Well we wanted signing like Chicharito.

Maybe that odd player can be the one.

Manchester United can't talk, the amount of wasteful signings they've made with big money goes beyond ours. Funny how they all forget Berbatov's price tag & how they wanted him sold in his first season, but look at him now, still the league's top scorer.

Yeah I know what you mean, but like you said, in the Hammers' game he was completely different. So we know he's still sharp & deadly & hungry and all this. It's just a matter of player psychology. His state of mind will only change once this season is over. He, more than anyone, knows this entire season has been awful for him. Roy Hodgson, the owners & the transfer all took it's toll on him. He needs a long term break and pre-season he must focus on gelling with the squad.

What concern me, is that you've never seen him smile once, except the time when he has scored.

Even when he's scoring for fun he can be a pouty brat.

I have to say as much as I love Fernando this half season has been miserable to watch him with a few exceptions here and there. Today was not a good Fernando moment. There were days at Liverpool where he'd look like absolute sh*t for 89 minutes and then have a bit of magic. I hope he enjoys the first summer off in years, finds his mojo back, and comes back ready. Right now he looks tired of football, on and off the field. I'm not ready to give up on him yet but he and I both need a break.

Torres did have that nice flick on assist for iva. Ya it was from a corner but still counts. Heres what the reality of the situation actually is.......Torres isnt at his best thats obvious however eevryone around him is doing nothing to help the situation....torres needs to be gettiing quick clever through balls so he can quickly turn and shoot, his pace is not gone anyone suggesting that is an imbecile. Frank is a chelsea legend but lets be honest he was HORRID todayy, at one point whiel watching the game i was like WOW i cant believe hoW slow lampard is........and that applies to most of our current team minus a couple players....also unfortunately times has run out on didier , it is obvious him and torres will never play and have success together and i doubt drogs even wants to...he realizes he is 33 and torres is bought for 50 mil to ultimately be his replacement, do u really think hes happy about that?.........torres needs the season to end have some time off to relax have a solid pre season and adjust to the team whoever it may be run by next season( carlo or someone else) and chelsea definetly need WING PLAY, young blood....ANELKA OUT Drogba OUT MALOUDA OUT. inser young blood like sturridge sign a guy like hamsik or mata or neymar along with a creative cm and you will see FERNANDO tear up the epl next season....i dont doubt for even a second that he will score a ton of goals for us next year.................BLUE IS THE COLOUR

I'm getting really concerned about Torres now, every centre half he plays against seems to have him in thier pocket. He is making no impact on oppostion defences and if we sell Drogba in the summer it will be a disaaster, as like him or not he makes things happen. That said I will reserve judgment on Torres until the end of next season.....

I remember two distinct situations yesterday where balls were squared looking for players in the box and he was nowhere to be found. Just not making those runs you'd expect any half-decent striker to make. One was from Anelka and one was from Cole. He looks like he can't wait for this season to end. So do I tbf. Let's hope the summer brings us the answers we need.

I noticed he's being doing that this season and it can be frustrating to watch but I think it's because he likes to receive it at the edge of the box, see this great goal against West Brom. Obviously he and Kuyt have a pretty good understanding. Maybe it's to do with him preferring to work in a lot of space. Perhaps someone needs to have a strong word and some training sessions on this.

Ugh it's revolting to see him in that red shirt

I'm a bit surprised tbh, he came on against West Ham and was all desire and passion and wanted to just run and make a difference and after the goal happened I said to myself this is it, he's going to be like this most games now. Not the goal part, the effort et al. Dunno what's gone wrong since then because I seriously thought that would be the boost he was lacking.

Chelsea fans, when he was bought seemed more interested in the fact that scousers were having their noses rubbed in it, by prising away their most valuable asset, rather than what was actually being purchased for £50 000 000.

The £50 000 000 question now is....... .........Is he a summer away from setting the football world on fire and spearheading a younger more dynamic Chelsea, or will he be the ultimate transfer bust ?? and the phrase '' Doing a Torres'' enter the Oxford English Dictionary as the new term for an expensive flop ???

Im going to stick my head out and say the former, give him a pre season and a full break he will come good, he is far too good an act not too. We must KTF with him, i still to this day think Sheva would have shined in 08/09 but we got rid of him rant.gif
