Nice. Don't know how far Chels will go but some good battles in Europe regardless. Will be very interesting to see how Chelsea will fare against Atletico and Roma as I honestly how good this team is outside the PL.

Tbf, we already know that this Core group of players are not UCL savy.

Only one success against a big-boy UCL team and that was PSG 2014.

In '15 & '16 PSG were by far the superior team against us.

I think we'll def escape the group. But once the knockout rounds begin, I fear for our midfield/wingbacks.

Copied from Twitter. They got home and away spot wrong it seems.

They did. UEFA have a generic sequence to determine each matchday's matches.

As alluded in the screenshot above, that sequence doesn't always apply because there are certain factors to take into consideration (e.g. teams from same city can't play at home on same matchday). The media - I believe it was London Evening Standard who tweeted it first - jumped the gun before getting official confirmation. The fixtures are usually only out an hour after the draw.

Not with the elite but, in terms of individual quality, you'd think Courtois, Luiz, Azpilicueta, Alonso, Kanté, Fabregas, Hazard and Pedro would be able to measure up with that group of teams below the elite. Even new boys Christensen, Rudiger, Bakayoko and Morata.

But as a collective... I don't know. Chels need to be much better in possession. Much better. You can't give the ball away so cheaply. The quality of build-up play needs to improve significantly. Same goes for delivering that final ball and the level of finishing.

This team can battle though and I love how they can substantially improve the performance levels in the second half. But the whole 'let's sit back, hoof the ball up and play long balls, make the best of a few opportunities' game plan is dead in the CL. That truly annoyed me under previous managers. Hope we don't see that.

I don't have much faith in the 3-4-3 system in the CL though. Definitely not with this centre midfield and these wingbacks, like you already alluded to.

Agreed. I know CM is the holy grail for UCL, but I just hope we get competent Wingbacks that can win their 1v1 duels and deliver accurate crosses.

Let's see how the season progresses, and the business that's done in these final 8 days.

Possibly, but with the current squad these are possible too:

Atletico 2-1 Chelsea

Chelsea 2-2 Roma

Roma 2-0 Chelsea

Qarabag 1-1 Chelsea

Chelsea 0-0 Atletico
