Credit where it's due but it is absolutely cringeworthy that the media and Benitez's worshippers think that we should change our opinion and rid of the hatred on him just because of one 8-0 win. What next if we suddenly lose the next 2-3 games?! Worth pointing out that the 5 games we have won under Benitez have all come against poor Premier League teams or Championship level teams - Nordsjaelland, Sunderland, Monterrey, Leeds and Aston Villa. We have failed to win in the otehr games when coming up against Premier League mid-table sides or teams with better quality and/or more streetwise in their approach - Man City, Fulham, West Ham and Corinthians. Not taking anything away from those 5 wins but it's one thing beating the lower level teams and it's another beating the quality ones. Benitez still got a lot to prove before he can even possibly convince us at the slightest!

You are way out of line saying Rafa is a better coach than Mourinho. It is like saying RDM is better than Pep because he won against Barcelona...

Draw against Man City is excusable(only had it in there for formality sake. ) but what about the games against Fulham, West Ham and Corinthians? He didn't even look to change things around early when the warning signs were already there in those games especially against the latter two opponents!

I did not explicitly say "Benitez is better than Mourinho" it was a counter point to yours that they could not be compared.

Well if you have that much success (not just 1 fluke year) against a manger "you cannot be compared with" then obviously something is wrong, somewhere.

what confidence are u talking about? the confidence that has lasted a mere 135 minutes right now? has a 8-0 and a 5-1 win over villa and leeds already removed the memories of the 1-0 loss in the cwc final mostly because of his tactical blunders...

In the West ham game the same team he had out, dominated for 45 minutes, then all of a sudden we couldn't hold on to the ball. Remember something similar happened against Spurs under RDM, he didn't change anything either but the players stepped up and won the game. But this time around, like i said they were lacking confidence and just succumbed to the pressure.

Fulham, boring team, he's not the only Chelsea manager to get a stupid draw against them, meh.

Corinthians i will agree he could have changed something here, like Moses for Oscar.

No, it`s not.

Benitez was the better manager when facing us at Uefa Champions League, I am not arguing that. What I am saying is that overall (qualities and weakness), Mourinho is a much better manager than Benitez and that is not even up for debate. Again, that does not mean Rafa cant do a great job at Chelsea.

I know it is a team sport, we lose together and we win together. Nevertheless, you cant lose control of a game the way he did at West Ham and CWC if you are to be placed amongst the best.

The explosion (not talking about you) of love Benitez has been granted because we destroyed some shit teams is nonsense. His mistakes at Fulham, West Ham and CWC are just as outstanding as his wins.

Confidence that only comes from winning games. I don't understand what you mean by lasted? those have been our last 2 games and we've played well and won with a huge score-lines.

Confidence that only comes from winning games. I don't understand what you mean by lasted? those have been our last 2 games and we've played well and won with a huge score-lines.

That can only improve the mood and confidence in the dressing room.

and how many games have we won under benitez? we have gained a total of 8 points from a possible 15 under a new manager which normally sparks the players to perform much better (and we as chelsea fans have enough proof to that). add to that the defeat of cwc final and u have at best an average tenure of 9 games. that is AT BEST.

I believe we discussed about this before. He could have changed the shape by bringing on another midfield player and see how it goes. Can't be any worse than how we were playing then. This is where managers like Mourinho excels. The minute he sees the team is having problems, he will look to change things around immediately to ensure the initiative is with his team and not the opponent. Can't be like a headless chicken there and do nothing. He is a manager and in situations like that is where he earns what he's being paid. Benitez needs to take the risks sometimes and even if it doesn't work out in the end, at least we can see that he's trying to change things but the problem is, he didn't! We were basically just like lambs waiting to be slaughtered in that second half against West Ham.

Meh. Not an excuse for him to draw against Fulham. They were in bad form themselves and yet we gave them the point.

Our midfield was being overrun because there wasn't any DM in there. We all can see from miles away and yet Benitez did nothing. He didn't even look to bring Mikel on so that we can stabilize the midfield and gain control in that area!

I was talking specifically about the past 2 games and building confidence from that. Oh and 8 points out of 15 is surely better than anything we got in November

What? Why dont you quote the entire post, not only what matters to you?

I dont understand, Mourinho and Fergunson (who is also a better manager) need to outclass Benitez the whole time to be considered better managers?

Also, the hated he received has a reason, he said stupid things that he DID mean. On the other hand, the immense love is not justified, it is not like we are trashing everyone (ManCity, Fulham and Corinthians were the most difficult opponents and he did not win).
