good performance with a great assist on top of it and under pressure too. Great defensively helping with possession and interceptions.

Another player who can do no good for this god forsaken forum.

Absolutely disgraceful performance. I hope I'm not the only one that has noticed his unwillinglness to pass to Hazard, even when the latter is completely free. When he passes to him, it's like a last resort. This has been going on for quite a while now. And when Hazard doesn't get those initial touches, he has a hard time getting into the game, particularly in away matches like this.

I can speculate on his reluctance to pass to Hazard, but I just don't care anymore. Oscar just go away from Chelsea. I'm sick of watching you play for us.

Oscar actually had an ok performance in general but his finishing was atrocious. Because of the misses, he had a bad game overall imo. Hazard had more than enough touches in the game but was extremely average. Don't blame Oscar for his performance. I wish you could just analyse these players without involving Hazard though. I find it quite incredible how you seem to ignore the fact that Eden was average but lay it into players who actually performed better on the day.

I still think he is bang average and nowhere near the level we need

Hes just faded away - after the CL goal I thought what a player and my hopes were high that we had plucked a gem out of nowhere.

Now I just think - oh it's Oscar - bet he fucks up this simple pass and guess what he does :(

The guy obviously has skill and ability - it has to be a mental issue - I'm just not sure he has 'vision' or 'anticipation' in his locker - that's what sets the great players apart from the average. He just doesn't seem to be decisive when he gets the ball - he always seems caught in two minds. I wonder if a sports psychologist could re-train him?

I would love him to have a barnstorming season, for me to eat my words and to see this thread implode - but most of all because it would guarantee us CL...

It's not that hard to understand. Because Hazard has contributed much more to Chelsea's success than Oscar so he gets more of the benefit of the doubt.  I thought Hazard had a better performance on the day but because he's such a vastly superior player to Oscar, the intrinsic value of his perfomances are under-appreciated. That's just how it is.

My main gripe with Oscar in this game was not so much his perfomance, but his unwillinglness to pass the ball to Hazard when he was free, thus making it more difficult for the latter to get involved in the game, which is critical to our success as a team. If you haven't noticed this, you should pay more attention. Oscar seems to have a problem with Hazard being much better than him. If he had any sense, he'll play within the team concept before he finds his ass on the bench again. There's no reason why he should be starting ahead of Fabregas, and Conte will soon realize that. The sooner for us, the better.

Horrendous post. He was great, we've dominated every game with him in the team.

Hazard was the one that was awful.

You're an Oscar fan. I get it. If he was great then we have different expectations for Oscar. If Hazard was "awful" then you have a very bizzare defintion of awful. Let's see if Oscar can last this season in the starting line-up or get his ass benched like Mourinho did in our title winning season.

Let me put this out there a day before. I'm expecting an underwhelming perfomance against Liverpool. Different season, same shit from Oscar.

Who would you play instead of Oscar then? Cesc? Conte is not that daft to play him against Liverpool, the last opposition we should think about playing Cesc against.

I'm no fan of Oscar either but your criticism of him is very harsh. He has had a solid start to the season and no, that's not based on what we expect of him. The other day you had a go at Diego even though he's been our best player so far and put a masterclass of a performance on display against Swansea. Having a general opinion of a player is acceptable but blatantly ignoring or watching the performances with a cloud of bias is not.

Life doesn't have to be black or white, can we just say that they were both average/average+ on the day ?

Plus Oscar had a brilliant assist, his defensive work goes unnoticed most of the time because people are used to seeing him closer to the opponent's box.

Didn't think Eden had a bad bad game either, he just struggled with his finishing and a few choices, I thought he should have gone for goal more on this game, but he  has already showed in the first three games that he is progressing on that aspect so I can't complain.

Gotta boss tonight's game though, nevermind, he has always delivered against Liverpool, in fact two of his best goals with us came against them.

Not popular opinion but under someone like Conte and gaining experience, Oscar could actualy end up as very good midfielder. Even the likes of Xavi got better after age 26, I certainly believe Oscar will be much better than he is now once he gains experience and matures (his head is in right place).

Now the question is if we are ready to wait 2 years or maybe even more.

He is much better this season; his grit had come back, he creates chances and plays better most of the time, but I guess all this negative comments come from the fact that fans expect Oscar to play like Lamps and until he performs like that, people will never be happy with his performances.

Exactly. We've controlled pretty much every game this season, unlike last year where we were getting absolutely dominated by virtually every team.

I'm waiting until after the Liverpool game before I make my final assessment on his start to the season. If he plays well against a well coached Liverpool team then we can start rejoicing because maybe he's finally tuned a new leaf.

He always starts the season well, bar last season. This is nothing new. We'll see what tune fans will be singing at the end of the season.

He could very well be a late bloomer but the boy hasn't improved in four full seasons. That's a very, very, very long time. What has disappointed me the most is his complete lack of phsycial progression in his time in England. Four year and he still makes Harry Potter look like Mr. Universe.

He might be slight in size, but defensively I've seen him make more well-timed aggressive tackles than any other player not in the back 4 or CDM spot.

Oscar is confident the Blues can secure a third consecutive Premier League home win when we take on Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. It’s a fixture which has plenty of history and one which brings two in-form teams together and, for Oscar, a victory would be the perfect start to the weekend.

‘To prepare it’s okay, not so strange, but it’s nice to play on a Friday night because then we have the whole weekend,’ he told the club’s official newsletter.‘We need to prepare in the normal way but then if we win perhaps I will have a barbecue with my family. First, let’s win to make it a good weekend!‘Both teams have started the season well, I think we both have good teams and of course it will be a difficult game but I hope we can win in front of our supporters.’

On a personal level, Oscar has started the campaign in fine fashion alongside Nemanja Matic in the middle of the park.

‘I feel very fit, physically as strong as ever and I have done a lot of running in the games, have won my duels and am showing my strength,’ he said.‘I hope this continues against Liverpool, and it’s important we play in this way because they have players who can hurt us.’

In terms of their attacking play Liverpool have looked extremely dangerous, but Oscar is confident we have more than enough quality in our side to cause the visitors all manner of problems as we look to build on a solid start to the season.

‘They are very quick, especially Sadio Mane, who has already scored two goals, and of course also I know Philippe Coutinho well and he isn’t so quick when he runs but with the ball at his feet he makes fast decisions and can move the ball quickly to cause damage,’ he added.‘But I also know we can cause Liverpool problems, our attacking play has been good and in the last game against Swansea we had a lot of chances. We played very well.’
