Oscar

You know, when he scored that beauty in the Champions League vs Juventus I thought he was the real deal. A classic Brazilian number 10 with enormous ability, agility and skill, but you've hit the nail on the headed with the bold part.

I don't know if he suffers from a lack of interest, concentration or he's just not that intelligent on a football sense but something is not right when you watch Oscar. When he simply coasts through a game or lets it go by him (a la Fabregas) he's a useless part. I often mock Ozil for Arsenal because, while on talent he may be one of the best no10s in the world, he does the infamous disappearing act for Arsenal far too much! Their fans will defend him to the core, they have no choice when he came at £40m, but even they know in their hearts that Ozil's lack of consistency hurts them a lot.

Mourinho sees this, you would think. The amount of time Oscar has spent on the bench in the last two seasons is staggering. He was often subbed on or off but seldom played a full 90minutes. Slyly, JM must regret selling Mata and dubbing Oscar his number 10. I defended that decision a lot when it happened and I'm sad that its simply not clicking for Oscar but he's got resale value and this isn't the time for sentiments.

Probably does. I think he might not admit it but he probably regrets selling KDB out of all of them. He could have coached him to press like Oscar but take that aside KDB is an upgrade over Oscar in almost every angle and I think he would have done wonders for us. Look at the impact he has made at City already and he is on the level with the likes of Hazard, Silva, Sanchez and Aguero, he really is. Oscar just looks way too fragile when playing for us. There were some people who actually thought he was the missing link when we were doing poor and he was not in the team. Oscar is a player before like I was saying that may look good when we are playing well but rarely will be the standout difference when the team is average. We really need better contributions from him because too often he looks like a fragile passenger.

Mourinho is obviously not impressed by Oscar, hence why he has been on the bench in recent matches. But right now I am fine with him as a squad player. I just don't think he has done enough to be starting as our no.10 and I think he will continue on the bench till he actually steps up much more.

NOPE.

Mourinho doesn't regret selling KDB. Only thing he regrets is not getting more money or performance clauses on his deal. No way can KDB play the n10 role Jose wants and envisions. Also, regarding KDB, all those stats he put up are games where david silva was injured/not playing. If Cesc burned out before the beginning of the 2015, no way would KDB last longer, especially in the n10 role. We've seen time and time, how players are going right through Cesc and the same would apply to KDB or in my opinion even worse.

Of all people who gained shitload of weight in our team, the one who should gain it, didnt...still looks too weak despite his agressive play.

Some guys just don't get bigger..

Honestly, Oscar isn't really ideal for what Jose envisions imo and his probably dieing out physically from it. Cesc took half a season before he broked down under Jose too.

Also, maybe he regrets branding him his n10, but I don't think he would of made Juan mata his n10.

KDB may of not been able to work hard every game and put in the same performance level but he would have been good enough to make an impact here. Even if it meant swapping KDB to the left sometimes, it would have worked. That is where he has played for City in their last 2, constantly cutting inside and trying to execute through balls. The problem with Oscar is he is pressing but it is not effective at all as he is just too weak. He done his bit against Arsenal, well played to him but it seems back to square one and most importantly he is not offering anything in attack. Like I was saying, I am not saying KDB would have been a star for us every game but he would of made much more a contribution in attack, which we have often been lacking this season.

Rambo don't get bigger but he stands his own ground and has good balance. Oscar used to show this but looks more and more fragile.

Did you see KDB play for City? He's good games have only been the games where David Silva did not play in them. Coincidence?

Also, KDB, like Cesc would of died out playing in the middle pressing/tackling. If it was a different manager, I guess. However, I'm just talking about Jose Mourinho and Chelsea with Oscar and KDB. Cesc hasn't looked good since the beginning of the year. Coincidence? or maybe he just died out

This idea that KDB or Mata could of played the role he envisioned couldn't be anywhere close to reality.

Rambo fouls a lot and the current Rambo does not stand his own ground or have good balance anymore.

Come on.... They have not even started a league game together and have only started 1 UCL game together IIRC and played another one together where KDB came on with under 20 mins remaining. We need to see them play more till we make that judgement tbh.

Some ways I agree with you. For instance I miss Mata but I think under Mourinho, his ability to press and perform in attack every game would be a question mark because naturally he is a slow player. However with KDB, when I see him, I know you will disagree but I always see him press hard, track back and do wonders going forward. He is for me the complete player. He is not a great presser or he is a great workhorse like Willian but he has got it in him because he has a fair amount of pace and stamina. He played almost every min for Wolfsburg and would never die out.

Cesc not performing is not to do with him dying out. He is just being innefective and struggles to dictate the game and looks more sloppy on the ball. I thought he was acc decent tonight but when I see Fabregas play in that role, I think KDB should be there because he can do what they are doing on the defensive but contribute much more going forward. I struggle to beleive that the defensive work rate required would have stalled him. Hazard is not naturally a defensive working player but he overcame the criticism before and adapted because he is a world class player and KDB is on that level too. Mourinho was just too rash.

Regarding Ramires, he is not the player he used to be but he still has shown in some matches this season what he brings unique to the team. He is not a lightweight despite his size and holds his own imo. When he is running forward it is quite difficult to bully him off the ball.

Forget about his contribution in attack where's the fucking work rate?! Where's the non-stop chasing and pressing high?! Tackling hard... nothing!

He's been this slow pedestrian for both Chelsea and Brazil lately - rightfully so sitting on the bench for both.

What's going on?!

Who is still on par this season?

Dave and I guess Willian. Costa, oscar, cesc, matic all burned out by the beginning of 2015 imo. Look at them and look at KDB. Can you really think that KDB would not burn out as well, even in lesser time.

Definitely burned out physically.

If anything, he would be pressing high and chasing like a dog, but I think he cannot anymore physically like costa, cesc and matic

I can certainly buy that that's the reason, but why?!

He hasn't been playing much lately. Had a much needed break... yes picked up a injury after a good first showing, but it's been a while and he shows no signs of improvement.

He's also fairly young to be suffering so much with fitness.

he is still "burned" out? for fuck's sake he got his summer off - 2months. we were done with the league 3 matches before (1month) and he has barely played any football this season (2months).

i guess i am burned out too playing that match last year for my college team.

whats even sadder is the fact that i wish he starts the game against whu as i dont want to see cesc in the starting line up. :sigh: things i do for love chelsea.

Maybe your right, however, the way I see it similar to hazard, costa and cesc situation is that their all burned out physically. Resting won't cure all those small injuries you accrued playing at that tempo and without proper healing.

I think of it as a boxer getting hit in the chin too many times. All the rest in the world won't cure you and eventually, slight punches will knock you out cold.

Oscar's injury history is always a secret at Chelsea, which makes it harder to assess him physically

fair enough, i get what you are saying, but what i dont get is how or why it has been so. oscar or hazard or cesc or matic are not the first bunch of players to play a fair chunk of the season. lamps did it for years. neville, scholes have done it for years.

if you are talking about fatigue i have to disagree.

if you are talking about niggling injuries which dont go away, maybe. but more than injured, these players look disheartened. uninterested.

for all the talk of backing jose and jose being the best manager in the world to the last person in the squad, most of the players look like they dont give a shit about the manager, the club or the game. and i am talking mostly about attackers - hazard, cesc, oscar, costa, pedro. they dont look like they are enjoying their game. so i dont know if its injuries or just something mental.
