I hate the obsession with 'big game player's'.

In reality no one plays to their full potential very often for long periods in big games, not even Messi, the high quality on display makes it almost impossible.

ask the Argentine Messi if he is a big player...

I don't get the obsession with Gotze. He is playing for an elite team playing against teams who are no match for them and his levels of inconstency is worse than Oscar. You only have to look at their forum to see the amount of criticism he gets. Why do people think he will automatically be some great no.10 for us if he can't shine on a regular basis for Bayern?

If he did come here (which is hugely unlikely) he would be playing in a much tougher league and I have no reason to believe he will actually be a better player for us than Oscar is. But you can see how the players are linked together. Both players have not put in performances on a consistent level and there have been talk that both could be leaving and both managers (Mourinho and Pep) have come out to confirm that the aforementioned players are key players to their team. I will not even look into the stats of Gotze having more goals. Two different systems. At Dortmund he is playing in an ultra-offensive team and at Bayern, it is the equivalent of Celtic of the SPL. Walkover league where most players should look much better than they actually are yet he is bombarded with criticism.

I do think Gotze is a talent but do I want him in the team at the expense of Oscar? No thanks.

Sorry, why is everyone moaning? I didn't watch the game but if he got both assists, had the most key passes and tried hard then what did he do wrong? (Serious question)

He didn't score a hat-trick...useless! :noexpression:

Is he a big game player?

No, and for me that's probably the main thing he needs to improve.

2 goals and a superb performance for a 20 yr old against a great juve midfied isn't bullocks. Others include a goal and 2 assists against spurs, 3 assists against manutd, 2 goals against arsenal, a goal and 2 assists against liverpool, won a penalty against PSG and also got Ibra sent off in UCL. All these in the last 3 yrs and while he is only 23 yrs and below in the toughest league in the world. I think his career is actually just starting. If no one criticizes or talks about you that means you are nobody....criticism is very welcome.

That makes him a big game player does it? laughingsmiley001.gif

you may pick out the comas and full stop from my posts but many still believe had drogba not been sent off in ucl final against manutd and played john terry's penalty which he would have done we would have won that game, so giving an important player of your opposition a red card in a big game is ofcourse a big impact usually but my main point is that for his age such stat is a B+ or more when you look around the league and see that arsenal have not scored us in 2 seasons(2 yrs.) and man united have scored us only 2 goals in that period.....so i say yes bcoz some will do most things to have such stats in big games even without considering his age.

You replaced my emoticon you cheeky sod :D I never had the Chelsea flag there, I had the laughing sign. Don't get me wrong I agreed with a lot of what you were saying about his big game performances but the fact that you listed getting Ibra sent off (which was not a red btw) as a reason of a big game player just made me laugh. You can't actually use that as a reason, now come on :D
