A few reports this morning that the club want to nick him from Man City, and that Arnesen had a delegation meeting Citeh officials last night at their game. Anyone watch it ? City were dire.

Hes 18 and is reportedly going for about £8 million -mooted as a Drogba in the making. Though without the melodramatics presumably....

Saw that this morning. Very interesting story and perfectly possible. We have been looking at Sturridge for a long time. He is English which is what we need with the UEFA rules and he is a very good player. Ran our youth team ragged in the youth cup final last season.

Danny Sturridge is still to sign a new contract with Manchester City.

The Mirror says the 19-year-old's deal expires in the summer, when he could leave as a free agent. And the City whizz-kid is growing increasingly frustrated at the club's inability to produce a contract that reflects his status as one of the country's best young strikers.

Blackburn are said to want him as a makeweight in any deal for Roque Santa Cruz, but Sturridge is keen to remain at Eastlands. However, he will be forced to consider his options if the impasse continues, with Chelsea, Aston Villa and Everton all watching developments.

Chelsea are chasing Manchester City superkid Danny Sturridge.

The Mail on Sunday says Chelsea are front-runners to sign Sturridge, whose contract at City runs out in the summer.

The teenage striker is guided by his family, including Uncle Dean, who used to play at Derby.

So far, he has rejected City’s £40,000-a-week offer and manager Mark Hughes admits he is finding the situation frustrating.

Chelsea are prepared to take their bid for Manchester City striker Danny Sturridge to a tribunal.

The People says Sturridge is rated one of the best up-and coming talents in the game.

Chelsea are prepared to go to a tribunal to sign him for a small sum - or agree an 'out of court' figure with City.

Chelsea have be en tracking Sturridge for years...and are now weeks from landing him.

The young striker has been used sparingly by City boss Mark Hughes this season but Roman Abramovich's club will give him the chance of regular first-team football, and the handsome salary he wants ... around £50,000 a week initially.

Amazingly Sturridge, just 19, has never completed 90 minutes of first-team action in senior football, yet is one of the most sought-after talents in the Premier League.

Sturridge is out of contract in the summer but City are still entitled to a fee because he is under 24.

Eastlands boss Hughes will be stunned by the news that Chelsea are poised to steal their teen sensation.

To rub salt in the wounds, he will have to hand over a slice of the transfer fee to Coventry City, where Sturridge started his career.

Danny Sturridge has rejected a final contract offer from Manchester City.

The News of the World says City were ready to pay the England Under-21 striker £60,000 a week, including bonuses, to stay at Eastlands.

But Sturridge, 19, is not convinced he will get regular first- team football at City and is prepared to move on.

Long-term admirers Chelsea and Aston Villa are on full alert and will make their moves at the end of the season.

Although his deal ends in the summer, there will still be a fee as he is under 24.

It will be set at around £2million by a tribunal but a percentage will go to Coventry where he was in their academy.
