Manpe I didn't want to mention Sri Lanka because I don't really know how they view Australia. I know the Indian and Lebonese populaitons don't really like 'white Australia'. capriccioso 2,545
I didn't want to mention Sri Lanka because I don't really know how they view Australia. I know the Indian and Lebonese populaitons don't really like 'white Australia'.I don't know about the Lebanese but the Indians aged 30 and above here are have a ghetto mentality. It's not dislike or distrust, it's just that they don't really want to socialise with white people, they would rather socialise with other Indians. They'll still be happy to befriend them at work or whatever.Sri Lankans share a similar mindset but I can tell you they are eternally grateful to the Australian Government from letting them flee Sri Lanka. Obviously now with the war over that attitude isn't relevant, but still both sets share a positive view of white Australians. My parents of course are outerliers. They hate Muslims, whites, and Protestants- in that order.
manpe 10,861
I've always pronounced it as man-pay. Is that right?I don't know, I like to leave it to imagination, so there is no right or wrong... you can pronounce it as "the sexiest ape" and I wouldn't mind but what does this "7 years" mean? In Australia there's an annual competition between Queensland (a state of Australia) and New South Wales (another state). This competition is called "State of Origin", and it's a very fierce rivalry, comparable to Man United vs. Liverpool or even Barcelona vs. Real Madrid (minus all the political stuff, of course).Queensland have now won 7 titles in a row, hence the '7 years'.http://en.wikipedia....f_Origin_seriesOr for anyone wanting to save time, here's the main point from that article:State of Origin is the annual best-of-three series of rugby league football matches between the Maroons and the Blues, who represent theAustralian states of Queensland and New South Wales respectively.[1] Described as "sport's greatest rivalry,"[2][3] the State of Origin series is one of Australia's and the region's premier sporting events, attracting a huge television audience and usually selling out the stadiums in which the games are played.[4] Despite the existence of international tournaments and State of Origin being a domestic competition, it is frequently cited as being the highest-level of rugby league played anywhere in the world.Since the inception of the series, total victories for each side were formerly extraordinarily even; however, since 2006, Queensland has dominated the competition, winning all seven of the following series. We're Newer and Souther than Wales!I would say they are more like Leeds or Valencia, in that only a few years ago they were huge but now have slipped away. Fallen giants.
