Not that big a deal since his role in the team is secured. But playing in the Olympics is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Ryan, he deserves it.

Yeah, I don't think it's too big a deal in comparison to how others are making it sound. The Olympic final is a day before the Community Shield, chances are Team GB won't go that far in the competition anyway

It's probably safe to assume that Sturridge will be in the team as well.

So Bertrand, Luiz, Romeu, Mata and Sturridge are all going? That's a couple starters and a few decent squad players we'll be missing for the pre-season and the first couple of weeks in the league if they're given extra holidays after the tournament. Big losses.

How many players from other top clubs are playing in the Olympics?

David Luiz has been called up to represent Brazil at the London Olympics as one of the three players in the squad over the age of 23.

The 25-year-old will join up with his teammates in Brazil on 9 July for training, before they fly to England to take on Great Britain in a pre-tournament warm-up game at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium on 20 July.

The Olympic football competition is scheduled to run from 26 July until 11 August, with the new Barclays Premier League campaign starting a week later.

Ah shit didn't read that properly

any news on Hulk joining the brazil team?, because i'm going to that warm up game.
