MrExcalibur100 7,124 Posted April 16, 2014 Share Posted April 16, 2014 We having these debates because of his potential.Yes he has been great, phenomenal at times but everyone sees how mindblowing he can/ will be.The gab between him being phenomenal and having a good game is to big and thats why he's being critized easely but im convinced that will be better by getting older.This season he stepped up already in the big games, something he lacked last season.I think it's safe to say he is on track to fulfilling his potential. He has already achieved a lot in his short career having spent most of it at an average sized French club and in a tumultuous first season at Chelsea. This puts him at an obvious disadvantage to the likes of Ronaldo and Messi who had been at great teams from their teenage years. Can you imagine this is only Eden's first year playing in the Champions league knock-out phases? Many people forget these little (big really in terms of experience) things. It's the fault of some of the fans not Eden or his performances. He doesn't deserve to be criticized because he has been blameless for virtually most of the season. If we are going to criticize our best player then we might as well criticize everyone at Chelsea. Can't we just celebrate a player for his performance anymore instead of criticizing him for how good we want (expect) him to become? I think it's more healthy if we talk about the areas of his game he can improve on instead of building him up to the player we want him to be. The defense is as much as important as the attack is. Said it before too, Hazard can have a hat-trick every game, wouldn't make a difference if we're letting in 4 goals every game either. I was comparing AZPI and Hazard! Hazard is more crucial. If cole was to be played instead of Azpi we would have conceded a little bit more maybe 6 points difference if Hazard was not to play we would have been 15 points difference. You were wrong.
