80 Years since D day and liberation of Europe.

Listening to some of the D day vets, they were 17 and 18 year old kids at the time - they say 'we were children, not men' - they all have the same message 'war is hell' no matter how the media make it sound 'exciting'.

The German vets are very happy with D day as well, they say they were terrified of the Soviet Union dominating Europe.

Most are in their 90s and 100s now, so will not be around for the next commemoration. We should not forget their sacrifices, and all the freedoms we just take for granted.

Imagine this generation doing this now, we would be absolutely slaughtered.

Their parents said the same thing about them:

Old people always think the young are soft and lazy, but when its time to show they aren't, the kids usually come through for us😂

History shows us its the young that take risks, more likely to instigate change, revolutionaries - people generally  get more conservative as they get older and tend to resent youth -as in the quotes you highlighted. old cunts -Biden, Trump, Putin, Bush, netanyahu cling to power at the expense of youthful change. There was a good sketch I remember of Bush senior pressing the nuclear button shouting ''I dont get laid, then no one gets laid!"

Its true with the pandemic and the lockdowns there are some young people that find it really difficult to communicate and adjust, and there has been a spike in young people with mental health issues. generally its the young though that take risks, want change, its old cunts that want the status quo, and have too much to lose

Not this generation mate, new recruits in the military now get a little red booklet, and if there NCO shouts at them or swears or offends then in anyway they have to write it down in there little red book, so they can sort it out......, pathetic, when I was a recruit I used to get the shit kicked out me daily for just breathing or blinking the wrong way.

In the war there is only one way, forward,
The nearest I have been was when we were extinguishing a forest fire.
There was a hut infront of me and I was supposed to go to the left of it and attack the fire.
But that way the wind was blowing the flames into my face, so I negotiated the hut and attacked the flames from the other side.
This movement the officer who was behind me he perceived as a retreat and said something to me - felt ashamed.

The way the gen Z generation is ATM I wouldn't even let them put out a bin fire, so self centered, imagine telling them to get of this boat into a barrage of machine gun fire when the odds favour been hit then not, absolutely no chance. Like these just stop oil freaks, they have no respect for anything, I'll stop using oil and gas, I'll just light them on fire and use them as a heat source in the winter 🤣

I don't really believe that.
There are so many wars happening now and forget whose side you are on.
Afghanistan - Middle East - Ukraine.
The military's mechanisms work.
When I was in the services sometimes I was peeking into the various little booklets they had in the "second bureau", the mps.
Some of them were old, from junta days.
In one of them members of the armed forces were advised to make junta propaganda thus: If you go to a football match when you buy your ticket you should shout "thank god for the revolution - we no longer have to wait in endless queues for a ticket".
The other one was more serious. Writen by a wing commander who was himself the son of a war hero but a junta supporter himself. He wrote "the army is a war machine destined to operate during peace time". That I think was a spot on observation.

Bookies are not so up to date re. election results as other pundits, but they are up to date enough - at least for us who do not live in the States.
So today it's Trump 1.66, Biden 2.50.
Biggest margin ever for the b****rd, after the conviction as well !

No, it was correct what he said.
Greece has peace from 1949 to this day - or 1949 to 1970 when he wrote that booklet.
But the military is functioning.

The reason you have a military is because there is no peace, and war could break out at anytime.

If the bookies are right it's all but Trump craze now in America.
I tend to attribute this to the over-wokism exhibited by the Trump administration.
If one has progressive policies he can't overshoot the mark, much more so if those policies are not truly progerssive but represent marxist and neomarxist ideas.
The wokes went so far as to ban the straws with which we sip lemonade and intoduced charges for the plastic bags (Tunbergism).
So Trump wins, just like Thatcher in the eighties when she was sweeping the boards.
Putin is over the moon as also the Iranian imams.
