pluto 0
Unfortunately i don't think you are going to get your wish. At the end of the day he has got better results than anyone thought he would do. He would turn round at the end of the season and say, we did OK last season - now give me the summer to bring my players in and prepare for the season my way..... I think he will be given next season no matter what. I have a feeling you could be right, if he fails he can turn around and say "this is Jose's team I did my best with soiled goods". And Roman throws some more roubles his way and gives him another season and a few more assistants to cover for him. I'm hoping that if we do fail to win anything this season Roman will see sense and find a quality replacement for next but I do wonder if he is still wanting to experiment with his "phone a friend" routine and will stick with Grant to the bitter end. And boy could it get bitter.
bigbluewillie 1,930
I very much doubt it, if Grant did go whom is just hanging around of suitable calibre that could take up the reins - and no it can't be Jose! Roman has invested too much of his own ego in this appointment to get rid of Grant right now - if he fails in the other cups and league then yes he probably will get kicked back upstairs where he should have stayed. yeah i think your right, RA to admit he made a mistake wtf am i thinking :censored: regards:JBD
pluto 0
jose had a way of consoling me, like the time (i forget against who) with about 2 minute's to go he got up shook stevie clarke's hand and then the rest of his staff and walked off down the tunnel... "that's it" jose said job done..............brilliant stuff.........................how the fuck could RA sack a man like that I love what you said there and that's what I miss like crazy now under this new regime. That kind of chutzpah and sheer balls that only Mourinho could bring. Sure there was another side to him that could create controversy out of thin air at times which we sorely could have done without but I would put up with that for the sheer feeling of strength and pride I felt about our team when you saw Jose prowling the touchline or sitting cool as you please next to Clarke notepad at the ready. Even when we weren't playing well or even lost (which was not often) I still felt sure of the team and new the players would bounce back because they were such a unit under him and would do anything to get into his good books. What do we get with Grant? "mumble, mumble, mumble, we are playing more postive football, mumble mumble" When I look at Grant on the sidelines I just feel like I've eaten a dodgy hot dog. Grant aint going anywhere,he aint delivering what Roman wants, attacking footie, any decent footie or results but is quiet and doesnt rant to the press just does his 'I am a frog the ref ahh the ref'impression He just arg no motivation. He just seems to stand for the sake of it because the other manager is.No presence god if he tried the chin up gesture I'd throw something v v heavy at him. misschief 24
One of the reasons Ive despised Grant since day one is because I knew the day would come when he proved what a complete fuck up he is as far as football's concerned and I knew no matter how much I pretended I didnt give a shit as long as he was manager, Id still end up feeling as gutted as I do now. But if Im angry with Grant, its nothing compared to how I feel about Roman for hiring someone so clearly inept in the first place. Is he naive or just completely arrogant? Whichever, its time to prove he really does give a shit less about the club and rectify his mistake.
changingman2000 35
Looking back at the news conference to publise the appointment of Grant, It was embarrassing watching Kenyon and Buck squirm in their seats as the questions came hammering in at them. If one (or both) of them had gone to Roman and said, "Hang on boss, Think your making a cunt of yourself here" then they would go right up in my estimation. Sadly I doubt it
Fulham Broadway 17,362
I think Roman is paying the price for wanting a 'yes' man who is clueless about anything else. From This Is London today; Avram Grant is unlikely to survive as Chelsea manager beyond the end of this season if he fails to make amends for Sunday's Carling Cup Final debacle. Amid rumours of serious dressing-room unrest, the Stamford Bridge hierarchy are understood to be hugely disappointed with Grant's failure to rise to the occasion at Wembley. Owner Roman Abramovich visited the Chelsea dressing room after Tottenham's much-deserved 2-1 victory and is said to share the views of those who thought Grant not only picked the wrong team but then displayed a lack of tactical nous and also failed to inspire his players at key times. In particular, they were shocked to see him on the periphery when coach Steve Clarke delivered a team talk between the end of normal time and the beginning of extra-time, while problems in the dressing room will not help Grant's cause. Sportsmail understands that there has been a heated exchange between Frank Lampard and the manager after Grant told him he could no longer expect to play in every game
Hingis 0
I just opened a group on FaceBook " The Avram Grant hatred society " , for those who hate this guy with a passion... Feel free to join And yes, I want him OUT the soonest possible, the better.
Fulham Broadway 17,362
Have a horrible feeling he'll be given another season with th excuse ''he needs to build HIS team''. The Mancs and Arse are having a good old chortle at us I see ''Chelsea fans don't deserve this, but I know I speak for all Arsenal and The Mancs fans when I say, this is sweet music to us. Chelsea are no longer a force they are under Mour, and will never be under Grant''
Gianfranco_Z 202
If we dont change our manager soon we will be a team like l'pool are now fighting for CL places. We need someone who will make the team their own, who has the tactical know-how and isnt afraid to drop big names. J Ten-Cate and Clarke would be the obvious choice, but could be a little hard after the alleged bust up he and JT had. I can also see quite a lot of our players leaving. The future does not look good if Grant stays. I cant believe it's taken just the CC Final to open eyes to the manager he actually is.
misschief 24
If we dont change our manager soon we will be a team like l'pool are now fighting for CL places. Er, we already are.. Ten-Cate and Clarke would be the obvious choice, but could be a little hard after the alleged bust up he and JT had. I can also see quite a lot of our players leaving. Ten Cate is starting to look like just another mistake of many. Things havent improved since he arrived and if he cant take the captain pointing it out then its not gonna work long term The future does not look good if Grant stays. I cant believe it's taken just the CC Final to open eyes to the manager he actually is. Well people have been far too easy on Grant all season imo just because we've managed to stay around 3rd spot but tbh my mother couldve achieved the same with that squad. The fact is, if you look back at the results and how we've actually played under Grant's management, it aint pretty. Now the wheels are well and truly coming off his little bandwagon, lets see his reaction - because Ive got a feeling we'll be struggling like hell between now and May if he stays. BlueLion. 21,491
I am already repeating myself, but before anyone does go the way of "I told you so", remember that I gave Grant a chance in my eyes only because it was obvious he wasn't going anywhere anyway. I was as unhappy with his appointment as anyone else on here. Time for him to go for sure, but we're not gonna get a decent replacement until the summer. Sack him now, install Clarke or Ten Cate as caretaker manager and make a proper appointment when a manager becomes available or the summer. I echo these sentiments. With Henk ten Cate as assistant manager, it seems all the more likely Rijkaard will come in the Summer, bring Sir Goof with him. Though Slaven Bilic is my choice.
