KRC Genk have confirmed that Belgian star-in-the-making Kevin de Bruyne is transferring to Chelsea on a five-and-a-half-year contract.

The Belgian, who has featured heavily in Genk's Champions League campaign this term, has long been touted to join the Blues having been an apparent target of the West London outfit since the Summer.

In a statement on their club website, the defending Belgian champions confirmed that de Bruyne completed his deal in the early hours of this morning after passing a medical in London on Monday. He will now return to Belgium and complete the rest of the season with Genk, as Chelsea have agreed to loan the wing prodigy back to Mario Been's side, who sit sixth in their domestic league.

It is expected that de Bruyne will explain his intentions to leave in the summer sometime later this week.

Everyone at TalkChelsea welcomes Kevin and hopes he enjoys a productive spell back in Belgium before joining up with his new club in the summer.

Good deal this. Would be stupid to get him into the sqaud straight away. He will get more game time at Genk and comes to us next season and then AVB can look into things. I wouldn´t mind if he gets to play somewhere else. AVB needs to avoid another Lukaku situation.
