Sure Mata isn't a Mourinho player but hes a world class player and will improve any team as we seen when he came in when we were relying on fucking Malouda and Kalou to play LW and Benayoun as a #10 at times... Mourinho is a top coach but he's made a massive fuck up selling Mata to United of all clubs. If your gonna sell him, do it to PSG, Atletico or someone who isn't a domestic rival.. I don't rate Sturridge but this is like the Sturridge situation but with a genuine world class player. Mourinho has completely written United off this season as title contenders and for the next however many years surely if Mata goes there.

Sure we've done some stupid shit in the transfer market (Signing Torres for 50m, Sheva for 30m when he wasn't wanted, Benayoun, Marin, selling Robben etc) in the last however many years but this tops it all I feel. Imagine if Benitez had done this, then everyone would be fucking angry but since its Mourinho its ok.....

and before anyone posts saying 'Mata isn't Chelsea FC' or 'Mata isn't bigger than Chelsea'.. I know that but neither is Mourinho. @mediator this is a football manger line-up but nothing that could work in real life. they would get 3-4 goals each game by this sort of line up. no protection at all.

how isnt his worth 45 million euros? Özil was worth the same and is probably even better. in terms of economics, this was a great deal. but in terms of league competition surely not. should have accepted 5-10 m less and sold him to another club in the summer.

Ozil is worth more than 45m euros and if Madrid weren't so fucking stupid they would have asked for more, same with us. If Bale goes for 90 odd million an inferior player to both Mata and Ozil then surely they should be worth more no?

I guess one of the main issues is Mata carried us for the last two seasons (creativity wise) and now we are much better he is off to help united until they recover.

It's a shame as I would have never seen this coming at the start of the season.

Again, just my opinion. No need for people to get annoyed with me as we're all CFC fans. I could have chosen a less controversial first few comments, but differing opinions, view-points and beliefs are what make the world a beautiful place. If you REALLY think about it, he could have remained at the club and fought for his place. It's not like he was a fringe player like Essien or De Bruyne, as he'd played more minutes than most of our "reserves" and was probably in line to start again after Oscar's two mediocre back to back performances against Hull and Man United. But he's gone to United and doubled his wages. Good luck to him, I guess.
