Avram Goes Back To School

Avram Grant traded the Chelsea training ground in Cobham for a classroom at the Israeli Football Association headquarters as he began studying for the Uefa Pro Licence.

The Chelsea manager took his place behind a desk at the Ramat Gan Stadium in Tel Aviv to start the course with a number of other leading Israeli coaches.

The course is the highest coaching qualification and it is a requirement for all Premier League managers. Although Grant previously managed his national team and has won 10 trophies in Israeli club football, his qualifications were not recognised by Uefa. The Premier League, however, were satisfied after Grant agreed to take the course at the earliest opportunity.

There had been fears that weekly sessions in Tel Aviv would affect his schedule with Chelsea, but it is believed that the FA Cup holders have made special arrangements with the Israeli FA so that Grant can complete the course with the minimum disruption. Grant will take some of the course in Israel but that will also be combined with work in England.

The Pro Licence usually takes around a year to complete, although it is understood that the course Grant is taking will last about two months and involves 90 hours of study.

Four of those days, however, may not apply to Grant because they include observation at a leading European team in the Champions League. Grant will be given homework during the course and will also have to prepare presentations on various topics.

The course covers a number of areas relating to coaching and management, including advice on how to deal with any off-field issues for players. Only last week, Grant's Chelsea press conference was dominated by questions relating to Ashley Cole's readiness to play following tabloid stories concerning his private life.

There was concern, meanwhile, yesterday for Yossi Benayoun after a Palestinian suicide bomber killed a woman in the Liverpool midfielder's home town of Dimona in southern Israel. Benayoun, who is in the national squad to play against Romania tomorrow, heard the blast and received a number of phone calls from friends to check his safety.

Concern for Benayoun, Lol, the Israelis dont even allow the Palestinians to play football, let alone have electricity or food and water.

Well thats ok then, Grant will be a qualified manager. Maybe he could start at Crewe or Doncaster or somewhere, so we could get someone competently experienced.

Grant has been mocked for not having the correct coaching badges (among other things). But he has always had the highest coaching badge he needed because previously Israel were not part of Europe so he would not have needed a UEFA licence.

Was mentioned in a different version of the story.....

He has some dodgy Cubscout Israeli coaching badges.

Now Israel, and Israeli clubs, were allowed to play in European competitions because none of the other Middle Eastern clubs or Countries would play them. Even Saudi Arabia thinks they're cunts.

That being the case, and with Grant leeching his way into an Israeli club, you'd think he might have the foresight to perhaps do a 90 hour course, that would make him at least seem credible for a European position, before he started bum bothering Abramovich.

Lol nah !! There seems to have been a constant propaganda operation in place since his installment aimed at reinforcing his supposed credibility, and that the coaching skills required are ''just a mere formality''.

With that fanatastic squad and massive backroom staff, fantastic facilities, billionaire backing, Ten Cates, and the experienced Steve Clarke.... anyone could have acquired the same results with Mourinhos departure.

The difference is that you Esk, would have provided better inspiration and more astute substitutions .

Hes just a face in the middle -and Oh what a fucking face.

Well we have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. But while we are winning and doing as well as we are i am happy to keep my mouth shut and give the management team my support.

I wish Grant would go back to school and stay there - just kidding all you Grant devotees!

Although I think that if you were consistently brown nosing, arse licking or "bum bothering" (lovely turn of phrase Fulham) you would have spent the time making sure you had the top licences needed to impress your many many friends.

And boy does Grant have them, is there anyone this man apparently does not know?

He seems to have spent the last twenty years arse licking everyone in sight, his tongue must be tainted brown by now surely?

Jason Burt in the Indy or Times said the only time Grant tends to get animated is when he is talking about all the famous friends he knows - why does that not surprise me?

We tend to get excited about things we are proud of/excel at and Grant obviously is very good at acquiring people to help him out.

Pity he didn't have the time to get his coaching badges too but we can't do everything all at once can we.

Any way good luck with those exams Avram but don't worry if you bust out just suck up to the examiner you probably know the guy anyway!

:D
