Chelsea tracking Lyon ace - report

Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Lyon winger Michel Bastos, according to reports in France.

The 27-year-old Brazilian had looked set to stay with Lyon after a move to Juventus collapsed, but the Blues could be prepared to meet the £12m asking price for the player.

Bastos can play on the left-wing or at left-back and his arrival could pave the way for Yuri Zhirkov to leave Stamford Bridge.

He has also been linked with Tottenham and Liverpool.

Now this is one transfer I would certainly like to see go through if we sell Malouda or Kalou.

He is fast, and a competent left-back as well as a very good attacking winger. If people need to know how he plays, think of Marcelo at Real Madrid. He is very talented with quick feet, excellent crossing ability and surprisingly strong. Huge work ethic for a winger as well, thanks to his boundless energy. For £12 million, this would be a steal.

He has a point though. Bastos is 27 and he should be owning the Europa atm, but all I can say for him is that he's decent. We can do much better.

From what I've seen of Bastos, he's a Brazilian Zhirkov, maybe a bit better. But not that much. Would love to be proven wrong if we end up signing him.
