They obviously got better legs than Mata for the Mourinho style of play. But Mata did thrive the previous season because of a more fluid style rather than counter attack. So far he hasn't been able to work out the new style. He's definitely trying, which was evident from the Swindon game but never really got hold of the new way here. It's gonna be even harder to return back to the winger role he used to play so well at Valencia. Then again, who am I to argue with bushman?

He should've turned the game around at HT work atleast 2 changes like taking off Lamps and Oscar and bringing De Bruyne and Hazard/Mata on. But that was just one of those days. he's a box to box midfielder. that's what he is. I must have missed all these lovely, out of the ordinary passes and chances he's being creating since joining us. And how many of those fancy, out of this world passes actually worked? I must say this way, he's more effective. Still a playmaker though. They doesn't always work with creative passing.
